Valentine's Rose
I watched the movie today, and it was the most eye-opening movie I have ever seen. Every quote was a life lesson, and the movie basically tells you to not conform to society's mold, instead do something with your life, be crazy, be free. It also reveals the darker message that is: be prepared for life, because it'll crush you if you're not. I could go on and on about that message, I generally love books with themes of innocence and the destruction of it, such as To Kill A Mockingbird, Of Mice & Men.

For me, even with the darker side, it was an excellent movie, and I will most likely live by the lessons Mr. Keating, also known as the great Robin Williams, has taught.

"Make your life extraordinary, boys."

Robin Williams' passing was even more tragic and hard to grasp when one pondered the many characters he played who gave uplifting messages like the one from this movie.

When I saw him as Mr. Keating my heart broke, but honestly it made me more inclined, for a lack of a better word, to follow what he says. I feel like I owe him for making my childhood so great.

However, there was a part in the movie which really made me think of him, not as the character, but rather himself. There was one part where he said "Because we're food for worms, lads! Because we're only going to experience a limited number of springs, summers, and falls. One day, hard as it is to believe, each and every one of us is going to stop breathing, turn cold, and die! I would like you to step forward over here and peruse the faces of the boys who attended this school sixty or seventy years ago. You've walked past them many times, but, I don't think you really looked at them

"They're not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they're destined for great things, just like many of you. Their eyes are full of hope, just like you.

"Did they wait until it was too late, to make from their lives into even one iota of what they were capable? Because, you see, gentleman, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But, if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go ahead, lean in. Listen....you hear it?

"Carpe...Carpe Diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary."

And indeed, Mr. Williams had.

Yeah, I don't like it as much as others but Williams was undoubtedly brilliant. Second only to his performance in Good Will Hunting, imo.

heh ive still not seen that one. but i always thought his best acting was in Moscow on the Hudson.

Haven't seen that one myself, but Willaims is a surprisingly good dramatic actor.

I also think Kurtwood Smith was great in DPS as well.
