Yeah, I agree. It doesn't help that they don't seem to be making requests and barely ping me at all. On the other hand I think the writing is really good pretty much everywhere else (especially Blathers), but that makes the villagers' dialogue seem even more bland.

What do you mean...dialogue has literally been nonexistent for me. My villagers never interact with me, they never ask for me to do favours for them or anything. It feels like my villagers don't even exist on the island.

Sadly I knew this was coming they have been dumbing down the dialogue with each subsequent game, I don't see them ever getting g better. also is it just me or does EVERYONE have the same exact voice?

Oh so they do eventually get tired of talking to you? I was talking to Hazel and she did a tired emotion when talking to me (like she was annoyed) .... Thought she was going to flip me off aha

I really hate how quickly they get sick of you.

Same! I have talked to each of my villagers like twice and they are already tired of me... There are only 6 people on this tiny-asf-island! Of course we're going to see each other frequently!

Mine haven't repeated themselves at all yet! And they ping me regularly. Still haven't been asked to do any favours though so I really hope that feature hasn't been removed. So far they're just pinging me to give me DIY recipes or items.

I kinda feel like the “tutorial” doesn’t end until you unlock the resident services building. The villagers kinda act like how villagers would during an event, i.e. the fishing tourney. They don’t interact with each other, and they kinda just stick to the topic of the event. In this case, they just make comments about life on a deserted island.

I expect things to open up more once Nook’s tent is upgraded.

i think it'll diversify once the island is developed, there's more villagers and we've played more. but i also agree - it seems like i can't speak to each villager more than once without them getting tired, and they never make any requests, and they often repeat themselves. however i like how villagers can give you diy recipes, and when they give you resources for 'collaborative' island projects.

I only got pinged once. Dom wanted to give me an iron ore to help with building the nook cranny. Havent gotten pinged ever since and the lack of request from villagers makes me not entract with them as i did in NL. Chatting is nice and all but i really loved doing tasks for them. I dont think they took the future out, so maybe it will pop up in the future.

I agree with this, they've pinged me a few time and it's been to each me either to give me something to progress, or to help me learn emotes, etc. I think once Resident Services is built and the 'tutoria' ends, they'll finally get deeper dialogue.

My villagers have pinged me a couple times but none have made any requests yet and they do seem like they repeat themselves. And the dialogue all seems pretty short. And this is weird but I can talk to a villager once in the morning and then an hour or so later talk to them again and they give me dialogue like “you again?” Like what?? Hopefully villager dialogue improves as the game progresses.

I'm thinking what the others are saying here is true... They're in extended tutorial mode. That is a bit frustrating. They're not giving me anything to do, giving me anything, or saying anything interesting. Talking to them feels pointless at this point. =/

I haven't been bothered by it, most likely because most times I downplay villager interaction in favor of landscaping, home decorating, and collecting stuff. I see my limited interaction with them as a benefit: they're less likely to repeat themselves and sound stale, and what they say may have more impact. Like if I only had a few chocolate bars to last me the rest of the year vs. having ready and plentiful access to them 24/7!

At the moment it still feels like they're talking "tutorialese" to me.

In general it feels kinda up and down at the moment. There are times where the AI seems smart and says things I wasn't expecting....but then there are times where they keep repeating themselves. In particular they seem to not have many different ways of greeting you.

I'm hoping it gets better as time goes on, but yeah, it's been repetitive already. I just try not to talk to them very much, and if I do it's only a couple times a day :( bleh. Villagers just might be for looks now.
