For a game that lacks longevity, 3000 hours doesn’t seem too bad.lol If you’re not enjoying the game anymore then maybe it’s time to take a break or look at other games to play. Maybe in a couple of months you’ll miss doing the grind and enjoy playing it again.

I’ve also been playing this game since release day daily and still find a reason to play it each day although not as long as before. I find areas that I could remodel whenever new furniture gets released. I check in on my villagers even though I’ve mostly heard what they’re going to say. I complete the 2x Nook Miles challenges so I can go looking for a new villager every two weeks, which gives me something to look forward to. I guess you just have to find your own fun and if it stops being fun for me then I have no problem dropping the game because the hours that I spent on the game is well worth the $60 I paid.

you actually completed all the miles goals and got your catalog filled with all variants visibly shown and crafted everything and.... ?

but also, legit just play/do other things. then if you decide you ever want to come back, do so

I completed my homes. I have 8 of them (I know its crazy) and they all have different looks and theme to them so thats that.
that isn't what I asked, but nice

The beauty of this game is that everybody defines "finished" differently. I thought I was done with my exterior until I wasn't. I thought my house was perfect until it needed to be perfect-er. I'm 1300 hours in and it feels like I'm just getting started.

I'll answer your question with a question: what do you do in any game where you've reached an objectively measured 100% completion?

To answer your last comment I did finish all of the Nook achievements and got all the items cataloged. I did also got all of the diys I could find in the game.

Assuming you have a full catalog as well, the only thing I'd suggest is to possibly rotate out villagers to experience more, and earn their framed photos. That's what has kept me playing (even though I took a couple months break) as I've always enjoyed getting photos of all of my favorites.

I don't see the point. I tried doing that last year and the villagers still act and talk the same way as the last ones I used to have based on the personality. I mean sure there is different homes and exteriors but to me I just don't see the point.

I feel that. For me, I see the framed photos (earned legit) as the hardest things to get in the game as well as the most desireable. Ever since Wild World I'd always try to get all of my favorites. It's a shame that the personality types in ACNH are extremely copy and pasted between the villagers of the same type.

Whenever I 100% complete the game I just put it down or if there is new content being added I turned it back on and check it out. I know I'm saying that when I saw that Sandro update but I seen what it looks like based on the trailer and I wasn't too keen on it. I will probably still check out the items just to see what it looks like but other than that its not going to do much for me.

do it with every alt
Can't do that. It will get too repetitive if I just do the same achievements with every user I have on my island.

Then I guess you go from an active player to a casual one. Nothing wrong with that.

I'd definitely take a break and play a different game for a while. Sounds like you're very content with what you've done in the game so far, and that's the goal. I mean, 3000 hours in less than a year is a lot!

Maybe go back to an old animal crossing game or just play a completely different series. Your island will be a lot more interesting when you come back to it after a hiatus. Plus if you miss out on a couple updates, you can have a backlog of updates to go through! So it's not just "meh 1-2 days of new stuff" but 1-2 days of new stuff x several updates.

I'd write down the date you decide to hiatus and just load it back on that day. Then you can experience any updates as they come and don't have to deal with weed/flower nightmares.

If you finish a game, you normally do other things like playing other games or another activity of your interest. I mean, 3k hours on a game that lacks longevity is pretty much cream of the crop playtime-wise, so you can focus your time and energy on other stuff you like.

I'd never restart because like you, I feel proud of everything I've achieved so far, so it's also fair that you don't take that option.

Rest well, brave warrior. Don't force yourself to play even more, take a break and feel free to come back if there is something that interests you down the line!

Thats the main issue I have whenever I don't play this game too often. I have to tell myself "Oh shoot I need to check to see if my island has weeds or roaches in the homes" This is a problem for me because I have 8 homes on the island and usually I had to go into every home and clear out the roaches. Then of course go all over my island to pick up weeds. Usually its not so bad because I have most areas paved over using custom tiles but still I would not like my island looking bad with the weeds. I miss that feature in New Leaf where you were Mayor you used to have an Ordinance called "Keep (whatever town name) Beautfiful" which means that there would be less weeds and no roaches to worry about if you took a hiatus from the game. So then its like I have to force myself to play again just to keep those roaches and weeds away from them so I don't feel too overwhelmed by it.

I totally hear you on the Beautiful Town Ordinance, I miss that too. The weeds are brutal and I suck at crushing cockroaches.
I still have a note file on my phone with the date my ACNL game is on... I have every intention on loading it up exactly where I left it off someday without risk of someone leaving me!

As others have said, 3000 hours is a crazy amount! Even with all the towns I've had in NL, they would never amount to that much. Let alone in one year! In my opinion, I would definitely say that New Horizons gave at least some kind of longevity for you :) Keep in mind, most of us have been stuck at home due to the pandemic, and have been playing this game WAYYYY more often than previous entries.

I can tell you really want to keep going, but unfortunately there isn't much for you to do. That's the bittersweet thing with playing a game for so long in such a short amount of time. Probably one of the better things you could do is take a break. I mean, Nintendo isn't going at super lightning speed with updates, so you'll probably want to come back after some updates have come out.

Or, maybe find a new game! There are other life sim games like Stardew Valley that can maybe scratch that itch until Animal Crossing can give you whatever you're looking for :) You can also always just go for another game entirely; I personally think the Switch has an amazing library so you have tons to choose from.

I know everyone has been telling me to play different games and I have last year. I replayed all the classic games that I liked before from the NES Classic and SNES classic. So I know what kind of games to play. I finished playing Super Mario 3D All stars when I got it for Christmas (still hate Sunshine) but yeah I have been playing other games but unlike Animal Crossing these games when you are done with them you just move on to the next game when you feel like you reached ending. I guess Animal Crossing used to have story when you were working had getting your island to 3 stars just to get KK to show up and then the credits roll after you got KK but I always felt that was incomplete especially after when you got the island app from Tom Nook. I just asked myself "Would it make more sense just to get it early in the game when you first start?" I always wondered about that and it still bothered me.

Truth be told I do play other games like Super Mario and Pokemon, I do know there is a new Pokemon game coming to the switch later this year so I am going to get that but still I am stuck with old games that I've played so many times and if I wanted to get more games I would have the money to afford them but games are so expensive these days and I have to save money so you know how that is.
