you really need a break. i don't mean to be rude, but every person who has suggested something has been shot down by you because you've done it before or because you don't want to (which is fine, but still). i'm at around 1000 hours in the game myself and that's with multiple breaks, often weeks long - roaches aren't a big issue and picking weeds at least gives you something to do when you come back.

Okay after hearing all the comments it's come to my attention that I have to take a break. I felt so dumb for forcing myself to play this game everyday because I feel like everyday it was always the same thing. I appreciate everyones advice and suggestion so now I am going to take a huge hiatas from this game. That Sandro update was the finally straw that made me just not want to play this game.

Maybe I will pick this game up in the future if there is any quality of life updates but there is none. I was really hoping it would come soon but I think it's time to not expect much and put this game to rest. This wasn't easy to do but now I'm just going to not play daily anymore.

maybe ... flatten your island ? this is really only if you are really into the decorating. this way you can keep all your villagers and completed museum and be able to do your island in a completely different theme

like I mentioned before I already done that last year and I have no plans on doing it I'm sorry that I hate repeating myself but it's true that I have been through this before

this is a good choice !! hopefully you are able to come back and find the same enjoyment you had when you first played the game. i barely got a switch in december so i am nowhere close to where you are lol, but igs every ones time has to come ?

Well you could always just take a break from the game, do other things for a few months and return to it after a few content updates. Nintendo did say they plan to add new stuff to the game for three years and we've seen with the Welcome Amiibo patch that those updates indeed can be quite monumental. They also seem to have gotten rid of that horrendous aspect of previous games where a villager would just leave your island without your prior consent even if you go away for a long time so the only thing you'll have to worry about if you do take a long break is... excessive weed, I guess. And your villagers being like "Waaaaah? Where'd you go all this time, bud?" or something.

Yeah, I think this is a good choice. As previously stated; 3000 hours is a lot for one year. It's probably good to wait until Nintendo can offer you something you want, and until then, maybe find other games or other outlets to have fun! Too much of anything is redundant.

I think the game is designed in a way to keep the player coming back every day. I struggle with it at times too, so no need to feel dumb! It's a hard a cycle to break, and it's good be able to recognize it and be able to choose to do other things.

I mean, I thought the obvious answer would be to just stop playing for a bit. Which is what it sounds like you're going to do which is good. I take breaks often from the game, even though my island is no where near finished and I still have tons I could be doing.

It's good to take breaks. Not a dumb idea at all. I usually switch to other games to keep me entertained when I wanna step away from ACNH.

you can always do my favorite thing which is walking around aimlessly catching bugs, catching fish, popping balloons, and talking to villagers. honestly thats just animal crossing to me xD

I'm sorry but after doing that after a year it just got boring. Hate to be negative but that's just how I felt.

I grew up in a time where my relatives would always tell me how "taking a break is for the weak" so I have a spoiled mindset.

I need to clarify something. When I say I put 3,000 hours into this game I am talking about total amount of hours I put in the game as a whole. I would not be that crazy playing the game so often like that. Most of the time was just me making the island. I do take breaks in between so I know when I feel tired I do tend to take breaks and then come back to the game.

I enjoyed resetting my island the first 6 times I did it. I think reset can be good if you have a different idea for a theme and that theme would benefit from a different map, island name, and/or character name. However, the idea of taking a long break also sounds good. I may end up doing that too. I bought a couple other Switch games but I'm no good at playing them, lol.

I'm not sure I understand your clarification.

What I'm trying to say is that most of the time was spent making my Island that's the reason why the hours were so high. I do take breaks in between so it's not like I was just like forcing myself to play 8 hours a day. The other hours have to do with me trying to complete nook mile achievements and trading with other people.

Keep in mind this game came out during the time when the world was in the pandemic so I had nothing better else to do and animal crossing New horizons was the only game that I played every single day because I was so bored with nothing else to play.

By November 2020 I got super Mario 3D All Stars so the hours that I spent playing this game daily we're cut short and I fell a lot more relaxed not having to worry about picking this game back up again constantly.

Well I've officially ran out of stuff to do in New Horizons. I will no longer be playing the game. Up until this point I've struggled to find a reason to even play the game. I am currently playing other games at the moment so at least that's something, but now I've really given up on New Horizons. The game has gotten so stale and boring that its not even as "joyful" or "relaxing" to me. All that terraforming just felt like a chore to do and it really sucked the fun out of me. Maybe I will pick it pack up when Nintendo actually cares and improves the game, but for now I am just done.

I would like to thank everyone for giving me advice on taking a break and it has really helped out. This game really helped me out during the pandemic, but now I have decided to put the game down until something "new" happens. Its been a long time since I did this to a game where I would always play on a daily bases but now I reached my peak where I have done everything there is to do in the game. Its a good game and it has lot going for it and its probably one of the most played games I've ever played.

I had a lot of ups and downs and it has been quite a journey for me. I am not restarting to start fresh. I want to keep this island opened and show how far I've come when playing. Hope my island can give people ideas for their island and help them out. Of course my island is not perfect and I am not going to act like its the "best island ever" but I hope I had at least inspired some people which is good at least.

For me, I havent even asked for the evaluation, and kinda just playing like I have. I personally love the game for the villagers, the fact you can create your own world, and the studio. But people do play it for different reasons

My advice, since you've done pretty much everything, and have absolutely everything to your liking, is maybe take a break, I know lots of people have said that, and I agree. Because it might help you enjoy it more

Not sure if this other idea would be much help, but another idea is to start a new island, or maybe come up with a theme for your curent island. That could make things more interesting. If you play it for achieving reasons the first time, maybe taking a break, and taking it from a different approach would help more. Also since if you started over you have to go through the entire thing again, knowing your goal after is something to look forward too.

But if you go in thinking about a theme, or something you can base your entire island around it could make it more fun. I see you like Kingdom Hearts, so maybe try an island based around that.

Another thing to add to that is coming up with villagers that suit your new theme, since you then have a goal of who to find or get! Yes. It can be tedious. I did it, picked out a villager to represent my characters, took a long time to pick. but when you see the villagers on your island its very satisfying!

I haven't asked for the evaluation, I haven't paid off my loan to a giant house, I don't care about that. I just love designing little areas, and making it stand out from other islands. I came in to make an island based on my novel. Even though things have changed for it, and the inside is nothing like it, it definitely was exciting to plan. Like making everything and looking at your hard work is very satisfying.
