This is a neat idea.

I want to add one.

6. The character gets their own money rock and glowing spot:
Each character gets their own money rock. And the main player's money rock becomes a resource rock to one of them
They also get their own glowing spot.

That's an extra 36,000 bells per day per extra character.

I’d like to add something too but it’s kinda niche.
I own 2 switches, a lite and the old one. I created a second user on both switches that use my bfs family switch online membership.
That way I can travel between my islands myself to exchange stuff.
It’s super neat. I just fly using “a faraway island” and use my main and my sub character and voila ☺️

- You can buy more orderables from the second character as long as they have the items catalogued.
- Earn additional Nook miles by checking in at the machine in RS.
- Extra recipes from Celeste.
- You can get more Gulliver and Gullivarrr items by using the second character and finding their missing phone / parts for the phone.

I like to use my extra characters to make multiple fish and bug models. It saves me a lot of time. I also use them for Gullivarr and Gulliver items.

Yes! And any placed items can be shared among players on the same island, so you don't need to worry about which character you catch the critters on.

More Nook Miles (and, keeping in mind, Nook Miles Tickets)!

It makes your island map more even. Maybe it’s just me but it bothers me when the character and villagers aren’t aligned evenly.

Right now I have 4 characters, and I’m Definitely adding a fifth. Adding a fifth will make it look more organized.

Hey thats great me personally I already have 8 users on my island. (I know its crazy) I wanted my island to look more like a town.

Me too! I was originally aiming for 8 but I don’t have space. I could only fit 4. The fifth that I’m making won’t have a house. It was bothering me that on the map slab, where it has the character faces and the villagers, it’s uneven with 4.

It’s only even with 2, 5, or 8 ( like you have).
Two is too small for me, and 8 is too much, so I settled with 5.

I only currently have 1 character on my island but I've often been tempted to have another one, though as I'm working through decorating my island at the moment I'm just trying to figure out where to place the second home. I think one of the biggest benefits, as has been pointed out, is the extra storage space as this can fill up very quickly so having another home to keep things in would be a great help. Also I hadn't considered been able to buy a second art piece from Redd, this would be really useful on the odd chance he might bring two real pieces of art that I'm still looking for without having the hard decision of which one to pick. Despite the game not having a huge selection of furniture sets, plus missing some very good sets from the older games, I still enjoy decorating my island home and usually run out of rooms for the ideas I have so a second home would also help with this.

Think I'm going to have to return to my map now and work out where I could fit another building and add a second character :D

I did consider a second character as thematically it works for my island.
Logistically I haven't a single place they could go.
I dont have an inch of wasted space.

The way I see it is that if you have an empty space that really bothers you on your island and you don't know what else to put there. It would be a good idea to make a 2nd user and put that home in that spot just so it doesn't feel empty.

Another perk is that if you accidentally let a villager move out with one character, you can boot up the game (on the same day, before the villager goes into boxes) with the other character and ask them to stay. Control-Z at its finest!

These are all great points, especially getting art from redd- I really want to complete my museum at some point. For me personally, the main benefit is being able to use the second players house to create an extra facility and/or building rather than treating it as a house. It can be a fun place for guests to visit according to the theme of the island (eg: Hotel, shop, haunted house etc) which is made even more fun with the addition of the warp pipes.

I’m sure someone already mentioned it, but you can also use the second character to stop a villager from moving away if your other character told them to move.

Oop see? I just had to read two comments up 😂

You can use your extra characters to hunt for zodiac fragments. During a character’s birth month, the percentage of star fragments appearing during a meteor shower goes up. I think that the rate for zodiac star fragments goes up by 10 percent, or a grand total of 20 percent.

I have 7 characters on my island precisely for Celeste diy hunting. However, I didn’t want a lot of houses/tents being built. That’s why I’m going to give them two set of seasonal clothes and think of them as day-time tourists.
