i forgot it was a thing until this morning and tbh i've never really cared about it, even as a child it was just another day to me
i've never pranked anyone because i personally don't find it entertaining and anytime someone tried to prank me they always failed because i'm literally aware of the date and can't be fooled easily lol
infact my mum tried to prank me this morning by saying my dog had escaped and she got mad when i didn't fall for it
April Fools Day just seems like any regular day to me, as do most holidays. In general, I try not to get involved with holidays. I haven’t had any experiences in which someone tried to prank me or even seen others getting pranked. Maybe I’m not paying enough attention, but it’s one of those things that just... you know what day it is, but nothing really happens.
i'm not a fan, honestly. as someone with anxiety, the idea of being the victim of a joke (especially a malicious one) is mortifying, and nobody else deserves to be one either. obviously a lot of people usually only do light-hearted things, and in private, but i never liked that a lot of other people use it as an excuse to single out and/or embarrass other people. and then there are people who post, like, "screamers" and stuff. i don't know if that's gone out of fashion in recent years, but it's still a gross/insensitive practice.
I enjoy it for the fun things, such as a website randomly changing their name to something else.
But if the joke is mean, that's not okay at all.
I don't really do pranks myself anyway since I'm terrible at that.
I've never really had any interest in April Fools Day, I don't take part it in it, nor has anyone I know really, and I've never been pranked so most years I forget that it's a particular thing and not just an ordinary day. Most years I remember it when I see a news article about some company or other trying out a new product that is so clearly fake that it just takes any potential fun out of the joke.
As the day doesn't really effect me I'm not worried if people do take part in it if it's in good spirit but overall I'd rather it was just a normal day for everyone so no-one could use it as an excuse to pull hurtful pranks and upset others.
I've never really been a fan of April Fools Day either. I think many people use it as an excuse to play cruel jokes or pranks on people that can kind of be mean spirited. I'm 100% all for joking as long as it's in good fun (and doesn't hurt anyone's feelings) but I can't really think of an instance where an April Fools Day prank was played on me that I didn't leave feeling dejected or kind of hurt. I haven't had anyone pull a prank on me in years and TBH, I'd rather it that way, you know?
i honestly don’t care about it at all - i’ve never understood the appeal in it especially since i’ve seen plenty of ‘pranks’ that are just downright cruel imo. that being said, i did like the april fools day event in new leaf but that’s about it lol.
I like April Fools day when the pranks are good. I love a good well-designed prank. However, April Fools day often gets soiled by people who don't understand what a good prank entails or how to design a good practical joke. So I love the holiday actually, but I fear some people are not responsible with it.
I'm relatively gullible and have fallen for April Fools jokes before. I like practical jokes that rely on you being gullible but aren't just a straight up lie anybody could genuinely believe. The examples in the OP are not very funny ones in my opinion. No surprise to me you got upset.
It's a day for fun & some good laughs, as long as the pranks are good-natured and harmless. Elaborate pranks just end up being bad. It's best to keep it simple.
I forgot all about it today as well until I checked my schedule for work this week. I wanted to say some lame joke to my coworkers, but nothing came to mind, really. Maybe it's for the best lol I have a pretty twisted sense of humor so who knows what I would have come up with.
Why live life with a stick perpetually stuck up the nether regions? (speaking in general) Try to have a good laugh once in a while, I always say. It's good for your overall health.
i don't really mind april fools bc no one where i live really does anything for it? usually don't notice that it's april 1st unless someone points it out hehe. but i do enjoy when games or websites i use do something silly for it! today i was surprised on the line webtoon app because they redrew all the cover art for their most popular stuff! and i still fondly remember when mystic messenger got a makeover for zen's birthday april fools )) omelet!yoosung you were a cute and delicious gift :')
but also wow i feel like the people around you don't actually know what a good joke is and i'm sorry you had to go through that
I’ve never seen anyone irl celebrate april fools day. Maybe that’s a good thing. It’s a holiday that no one in my life ever acknowledges. It’s just so irrelevant.
it seems like a normal day to me. it's also my brother's birthday so thats probably why we dont rly celebrate april fools since its his bday and we dont wanna prank him lol
I think its kinda stupid, I dont really "celebrate" it myself or anything. Sometimes it can be kinda cute as long as the prank isn't mean or hateful like you mentioned
Feels like a normal day for me tbh, not much really happens. The most I've seen people do for a prank is either post a link or a video that ends up rickrolling people or make a fake announcements for game updates. I haven't had anything unfortunate or cruel happen to me yet.
I was indifferent to it (I've actually forgotten multiple times that today is april fools) but now I really just don't care for it. I don't mind large scale pranks (like how Volkswagen changed their name to "Voltswagen", or how jvgsjeff informed the world that there is now a Princess Peach mustache available in New Horizons), but I really don't appreciate personal pranks. they just play with my feelings/sensitivity and I don't think that's very fair or fun.
I don't particularly care about it but I do find corporate pranks amusing (e.g. Build-A-Bear Workshop announced a line of "break-up bears" today in a video that showed people giving bears with shirts saying things like "thank you, next" on them to their partners to break up with them LOL)
