so, I am in a genuine stump right now, and my anger levels have risen to the point of no return. I am sick to death of my art not getting anyway. I do try so very hard, but it looks like absolute crapola. though, I do admit to comparing my art to other's art and picking out each and every flaw within my zart, but I just am reaching out for help before I give up once more.

here are some art samples;

now, I am not fishing for compliments, contrary to some poeple's belief, I am just wanting some advice on how to actually draw something that look semi-decent.

thank you all for looking at this, and have a wonderful day!!

Your structure on your drawings is really good and that's definitely where you shine, but you seem to have the same problem as me where you don't get to the coloring stage of a piece enough to get good practice.

I encourage you to color your sketches, no matter how bad you think they are. It'll give you the practice you need to climb over the next hurdle.

You should make the hands and ears bigger. The hand should be as big as the person's face and the ear should be the length from the top of the eye to the bottom of the nose. You should also use more contrast in your shading and not use just a lighter/darker version of one color.

thank you so much for your critique! it means heaps.
I will try to do just that, and I have been experimenting
with colouring and shading. quq again, thank you so
mch for this!

I definitely agree with the structure bit - you're quite good with the facial anatomy (from what I can tell, anyway!)

Re: colours: Don't be scared to use different colours! This tutorial is interesting. Or you can try pallette challenges too.

What specifically bothers you about your art? Then think of something you want to focus on improving - but don't try everything at once. Just work on that specific thing and remember that slow and steady wins the race :)

I do struggle with proportions a lot, especially
with hands. (hence why I have only just started
to include them in my sketches) again, I have
been trying to experiment with shading a lot,
but I always scrap it afterwards. thank you
so much for this, though! I know what to work
on in the future. uvu

ahh, thank you! honestly, proportions are a pain, but I'm glad
I got that right, at least. uvu

I haven't actually heard of a palette challenge before, but it seems
very interesting! but thank you for the tutorial; it is very interesting,
and I have some ideas now. I suppose I hesitate too much with my
art... quq

again, thank you for your support and tips! I am rather impatient, so
I should stick to one thing at a time, like you said. quq

I suggest you look at some pictures of simple and try to copy it until you get the hang of it, then you can try and do it without the reference.
