Does anyone use them? I have several, because they're often the quickest way from say, Re-Tail to the beach, or because of particular river layouts... but I don't see too many other towns with them. I assume mainly because it's hard to make a diagonal pathway that actually looks GOOD with a tile set. My new tiles are awesome but they just do NOT work for diagonals very well. Has anyone else forgone their diagonals for nicer-looking paths? Did you miss them too much? I'm considering doing a bit of an overhaul, but I wanna hear people's thoughts!
On your river, you mean? My river doesn't really have much in the way of diagonals, so it would FIT better, but it would also make travel a little slower. I have a lot of locals that just connect best diagonally. Though at least I'd only have to demolish one bench if I reworked!
I'm only using one design at the moment, so it can stand alone which works decently for diagonals. I only have a small bit of diagonal path, though. I haven't really needed to use that method a lot in my current town.
My town is almost more diagonals than straight lines, I just use a really natural-feeling pattern, like cobblestones rather than pavers or bricks. I'll post what I currently use in a second.
