did i get scammed

i had an open plot and i’ve been hunting.

someone wanted a motherly statue for sasha, cake.

i did the trade, i invited her, and when i TT’d to the next day, it was CHADDER. now he won’t leave omg

can someone explain what happened here )-:

i don’t know how you ended with chadder exactly but since he’s your most recent villager he won’t move out unless you use an amiibo, to get him to move you have to move someone else out and in

If you talked to Sasha and invited him to your island while on the other player’s island, and if you left via the airport (rather than the other person ending the session in a way that would prevent saving) I can’t see how scamming would have been possible.

When you went home from the trade, did you check the sign on the plot to see whose name was on it?

It sounds like Chadder had already autopopulated into the plot before the visit to Sasha. If the Sasha conversation was successful and there was more than one open plot, he might be moving into the other open plot tomorrow.

This is actually a scam that is possible with a modded Switch. However, that seems unlikely to me that someone would do this.

That said, all above posts are accurate. If you had a successful convo with Sasha saying he'll move in, and properly made it back to your island without a Resetti crash, then you either have two open plots or you were indeed victim of an edited villager.

Hmm. Do you recall if there was anyone else on the island when you visited for Sasha?
if there was someone else there, there is a chance that they speak to Sasha before you leave the island (which saves) and they get them instead of you. As a habit I make sure I see a name on the plot before doing anything else.
I personally have lost a villager due to the above condition but that was a modded/Treasure island.
The other question was whether their island was a treasure island but chances are low I’d they wanted a trade in return.

nooo, i have 10 plots and tangy left so i was hunting for sasha. before my trade with sasha, my plot was still opened and then i spoke with sasha then chadder came

But... that is super weird. I've never heard of a glitch like this, but I feel like you would need some serious hacking to be able to pull off a scam like that, and then couldn't you just hack a Sasha into the game? I'm curious to find out what happened because I've never heard of this before!

i really don’t know i even checked to see if the seller was reposting him but they didn’t so i also feel like i didn’t get scammed but this is just so weird lol

i’ve never not got the villager i invited over

this happened to me close to when the game was first released, except the unexpected villager's house was glitched so that it always said "i've moved out" and the villager himself never appeared in town. but i imagined if that was the case with chadder you would've mentioned it...that's so weird it has to be a glitch

I did have a weird glitch like this happen one time when I was cycling Moe, for someone

They went to get the cat, Moe gave the ok to move, so when they returned the plot was still empty, and I had a blue cat wandering around my island the next day.

No longer in boxes, he was still there, and we had no idea what just happened. So we tried again with the same results

Whenever I tried to kick him out cycling again, he was still there. Ended up spending almost two hours of over friendshipping him (Talking to him and giving him cherries. None stop)

Then he wanted to move, then they finally got their cat! But that was so frustrating. I thought the card was defective because that was the first time I used it.

I have used it again and it's worked fine. But that was so weird.

Im pretty sure that wasnt a glitch on your end.. i actually have his amiibo if you want him. It might be possible to hack up a handmade card, and do something like that.

Did you reach out to them, and explain to them your problem? If they used an amiibo they could try to help you again. Or its a flat out scam.

One thing, is if its on nookazon, or so fourth, you could see if they have Sasha avalible again. If they do, then thats a sign of it being a scam.
