I invited my 10th villager, Punchy, via amiibo card. As soon as I did this, however, the latest move-in before him, Plucky, asked me to move. Now that I'm at 10 villagers, I'm paranoid that moving in Punchy will cause my non-amiibo villagers, like Plucky, Lily, Walt, and Anabelle, to want to leave more readily. I have all of my dreamies and I'd be devastated if any of them left...

Am I still safe using the "find the mover before hiatus" method? Or did I make a mistake that will inevitably lead to one of my favorite villager's departure?

NOTE: I can't use the "keep the date the same" method to make sure no one leaves because I'm still on the hunt to complete my creature encyclopedia, which means I need access to other months in the year.

This method (ungracefully named by myself, as I'm not sure what the correct term is) entails seeking out the potential mover before going on hiatus. This means walking around your villagers until you get pinged by one, telling you they want to move. If you say no to them and close the game indefinitely, NO ONE WILL MOVE. It's an amazing method to make sure your dreamies stay put.

Only problem is, I'm not sure if the game sees me being at 10 villagers as suddenly free real estate to have my dreamies move without my permission...

It's just as it says; if you stop playing the game on August 19th, 2020, for example, you can keep changing the date back to August 19th so that, in effect no time passes. And if no time passes, no one will want to move.

Yes you should be good to still use the “find the mover before hiatus” method. In New Leaf, the more amiibos you have the more likely that your non-amiibos will move out. Once you have a majority of amiibo villagers, then those Amiibo villagers will start asking to move out. So no matter what you do, you still have to be diligent about finding the “mover (most likely a non-amiibo villager) and stopping them before skipping days in advance or going on hiatus.

Thank you for your reassurance! Just to clarify, is it true that you have until forever once you find the mover, or do you have only until the date they specified (ex. Lily says she'll move on August 26th, therefore I can't risk playing the game after August 26th as passed, even after stopping her). I heard it both ways.

If Lily says she'll move on August 26th but you stop her, you can effectively quit playing for years and she'll still be in your town! It's only when you log into the game again that you need to search for the next villager wanting to move out.

Bless up! 🙏 I worry too much about this sort of thing; I get attached really easily to my villagers. I appreciate the reassurance!

Oh hey, I was about to make a thread/post asking if thiswas the case. Guess I don’t have to now, thanks. :)
