Did they reduce DIY drop rate from balloons?

I got a whole set up along my island to catch balloons but I barely get any DIYs from them. (I restarted my island awhile ago so building back my DIY collection.) I used to be able to clear a seasonal DIY set in a few hours total, and now I can go ages with nothing. Am I unlucky or did they do something to the drop rate?

good question. ive never gotten any recipes from any balloons, and im constantly shooting them down.

I imagine it's an rng thing, DIYs from balloons probably vary from game to game

The rng has always been kind of bad. I think I gave up around the first year for the pine/acorn DIY. I was able to complete all the others within a day (like spending an hour or so hunting the balloons) but when the update for fall 2020 came I barely got any. So I just traded for them and didn't care if they were duped or whatever.

Me. I basically traded/bought every single seasonal diy I have now. I don't have time to grind it out.

Same pretty much. I say I got all the diy leading up to fall, but that's just Bunny Day and the Cherry blossoms lol. Making an integral part of the game a grind was not a good move. I get that they did it to artificially pad the game's playtime because they knew they released it so bare, but they went about it in the absolute worst and laziest way possible. 'Oh just jank the rng to .01% and call it a day'

Back in the months just after the games release I ended up getting all of the seasonal balloon diys for both of my accounts by using the balloon trick, where I'd check for a balloon every .x4th and .x9th minute and enter my house to make a balloon appear. If I remember right it didn't take me long to get all the seasonal diys for both accounts, maybe like a week? I remember not wanting to time travel and just took my time with it, but it worked. I have no idea if that trick still works after the 2.0 update, but I still see seasonal diys regularly when I pop balloons.

"Want some fun kids? Shake trees for hours!" I agree that it is lazy. I never ended up getting any Cherry Blossom diys so I bought them all.

To be honest I just got all my seasonal DIYs just playing the game and terraforming and shooting down every balloon I came across. I tried the grinding method but because of how boring it was it felt slower. So instead I just kept putting my game back to the beginning of cherry blossom season while I played naturally until I had them all

It is possible. I have been getting more items and bells from the balloons than actual diys.

In the time I have been playing daily just to do daily tasks I have not seen balloons where's I swear I would see at least 2 or hear them flying above.

Maybe it is just nonsense, but I tend to have more luck with diys showing in balloons and less likely to repeat if I crafted the recipes I already had at least once. (A checkmark will show on the card if you crafted them before).

I feel like the cherry blossom diys are the hardest to farm though.

I found balloons and DIY’s easier with my island rep. The first year was pretty easy to get them . I am trying now with a side character I plan to use on a new island and not having much luck seeing balloons . So getting the seasonal DIY’s is harder.
