Discord Questions

I've been thinking of getting Discord more and more recently, and I want to ask some questions about it. SO-

1. The # tag. I assume Discord gives you that. Is it used like a twitter handle, unique to each user and not repeated, but the name can be repeated?

2. On the topic of names, can you change yours later or no?

3. Will it give me problems if I use it on a cell but never download the app?

Hm, I think that's it for now. I don't really expect anyone to know about if it uses a crap load of data or not.

I don't really know much about the # tag, but I assume it is selected randomly and is never repeated. As far as usernames go, I have yet to run across someone with the same username as me but I do know that multiple people can have the same username and yes, you can change your username at any time from the user settings dashboard.

1. Yep, that's exactly what it is. You can set your name to anything and you'll usually just be assigned a random number to go with it!
2. You can change it later, and you can also change your nickname on the server whenever you want, given you have the permission to do so. TBT allows users to change their nickname at will.
3. No, Discord is designed to work on any platform, so you can use it only on your phone and it will work great!

Edit: With regards to data usage, it isn't that bad. The more servers you are in however, the higher data will be used. If you are in a lot of servers that have a lot of images going through, you will feel the data usage a bit more heavily. Text and the app alone is often very little data used though.

1. OH uh if you have discord nitro (which you probabaly won't have) you can change the tag to whatever number you want from
#0001 to #9999 people do #6969 for reasons you probs know why

So, I'm tryin to change my avatar, and every time I select a picture, the whole thing resets on me and brings me back to my dashboard. I guess my pics are too big, but how do I make them smaller/get the site to work? I thought if it was too big the site would just resize it.

This avatar crud is starting to get on my nerves. I already resized the photo using an online image editing program.

It's pretty much the same one in my avatar now, I was using http://www.online-image-editor.com and resized it (I think) to 128x128. I think the problem is either bad phone, or cause, I just now realized, the image has a transparent backround (that can't be seen when as my avatar now, tryin to fix that). But here's the raw image, then I cropped it manually using my phone.

It's random and will change if someone has the same name and tag. If you have nitro, you can select the tag.

Yes but there is a rate limit for changing your discord handle. However you can have a nickname in a server.

The web browser version on mobile doesn't work well, you should get the app.

Antonio Yeah, I have to use the site in a desktop version to be able to actually do stuff. That said, I have never used desktop version on my phone before this. I also can't join the tbt server without it prompting me to download the app. Annoying. When I get a new phone (which probably won't happen for a long time) I will most likely download the app.

DubiousDelphine I think I figured it out, I was trying to use a transparent backround avatar each time. So I found one with a white backround, resized it and now I have Raguna as my avatar. Also I sent you a friend thingy, I'm Jerico on there.
