To keep myself distracted from the months of waiting for the new AC game, I got the new dragon quest builders and have been playing nonstop.
With this installment nintendo has DLC available for crafting new items/areas including a season pass.

After seeing how so many games including smash bros, botw, and what not have dlc expansions... I wonder what the DLC for animal crossing will be?
Will It unlock new islands (i.e. fairy themed, season themed, etc) entirely?? Or maybe just clothing/furniture? Maybe there will be a pocket camp DLC that allows you to craft amenities? Or different villager packs/maybe to bring back characters they may not have added into this game?

And then theres the question to how accessible these items, villagers, and areas would be. Is it instant access or would you need to complete a series of tasks to unlock them all once you buy the DLC to go with the theme of building from the ground up?

Of course I'd love the game to have no DLC, but I honestly doubt with how big this game is that nintendo would just pass on such a big source of income seeing how many people spent money just on pocket camp. Hopefully there is a season pass or something so you can eventually have every DLC without spending an arm and a leg

To be honest, I see this not getting paid DLC. I only see potentially free updates or additions if at all. I just don’t think it fits with the vibe otherwise but I could be wrong. :)

I don't know if DLC is going to be a thing in AC. It doesn't seem like something Animal crossing would do, but I would absolutely buy any DLC they put out. I mean I'm probably going to be playing it for the next 5+ years, I wouldn't mind having a few little extras for the game, even if they are little side islands or something you can fly to with Nook Miles.

I would pay for a meaty DLC like Welcome amiibo, for sure. I hope they don't just add micro transactions for single pieces of furniture or furniture sets. That would be stupid.

Animal Crossing has had plenty of DLC in the past, starting with Wild World. Granted, all of the dlc additions have been free, but a precedent for AC dlc is already there. I hope whatever they come up with this time stays free, since we'll already be paying for the nso service.
Anyhoo, as for me, I hope new villagers with more crafting recipes become available with dlc. I would love to see some of the old villagers make a come back, like Meow and Bow. And I would looove to see all of the Pocket Camp furniture make it's way over to New Horizons too! I just hope the microtransactions/leaf tickets mess don't come along with them. :/

In the modern video game industry where DLC is a must in most games, I don't feel like Animal Crossing New Horizons would get one. Whenever a new installment comes, it just feels complete like there isn't an urge to ask for additional stuff.

Animal Crossing just doesn't look like the game to have DLC vibes to it.

Now, if they were to pull of a welcome amiibo (Besides the 3 year wait) then i'd see them do that.

I don't see it happening to be honest. Only because I don't think it's been a thing in the past. I could definitely be wrong though.

The only thing I see them potentially using the DLC for would be to sell furniture and clothing themes like in Pocket Camp. For example: The Sanrio Characters furniture and clothing, etc. Then they can give a percentage to the company who owns Hello Kitty and stuff.

It's hard to imagine a Animal Crossing main game with paid DLC. If they gonna offer DLC, then free
ones or just simple updates that add new stuff into the game. After all, I sure hope they not gonna
bring leaf tickets and fortune cookies over to NH, I don't need this trashy cash grabbing thing in a
AC main game.

Well, fortune cookies were in NL and that wasn't a cash grab, and since play coins aren't going to be a thing for the switch, the way they are gotten (if they addd them back) is going to have to be changed, which is what PC does by using bells (not LTs) to get the cookies (but LTs can stay exactly where they are....in a mobile game)

What I mean are those new fancy fortune cookies which have those special themed items in it, not those
standard ones with normal items in it which you can get for bells. If I remember correctly, they cost 50 LTs,
right? And the chances to get one of them for paying bells (I think 5000 bells?) aren't so high, pretty rare
actually from my experience. I saw so many people wasting LTs to get the items they want only to get tons
of duplicates, not a single 5 stars item and even pay real money to get more LTs. That's what I mean, that
they not gonna make this in NH too.

Ah, those items, I can respect people not wanting them to be in the new game (honestly, its a crime that all these models are being made for those new cookies and that these will be left behind in a mobile game) I must have had good luck...half the time, i only probably have 5 memory items and i havent paid anything....anyway

Somethimg tells me that they arent going to add the leaf tickets to a mainline game due to it being a mobile aspect

If they were to add these 'premium' cookies, they'd have to be changed on how they are gotten (something along the lines of nook miles) its in the air honestly....a majority of these items are alright, they wouldn't be to out of the norm coming from gracie grace...I'm just prattling on at this point....so I'm going to end it here...

There will definitely not be leaf tickets/micro transactions/premium currencies in this game, it is not a mobile game. I don't even think they will add any of the premium cookies in.

That being said, I hope the items from Pocket Camp are not left behind and I would pay and already am prepared to pay for a hefty DLC pack or two. I hope it is constantly being updated and if the updates are good, I don't mind paying extra for them a few years down the road as they release. It really sounds like they want fans to be playing this game for a long, long time (maybe so they can work on another Splatoon release?) and the best way I can see them staying relevant is releasing DLC packs and items that are in Pocket Camp.

I hope it doesn't get Paid DLC (Though I doubt it will).
However, times change, and stuff happens so who knows. We might just have to deal with it.

> Welcome amiibo: *exists*

It's really not unbelievable that this game will have DLC. I mean... amiibo exist and a good chunk of main games for the switch have DLC.
It's not like having it would ruin the game or anything? In new leaf we already had people with amiibo cards not everyone could get like the sanrio cards and it wasnt... that big of a deal. People will always have items you dont it's just how animal crossing is. Theres regional items and everything. So what's the issue with someone paying to have an extra experience with a game they dont want to get tired of??
I'm not saying micro transactions will be a thing. Its a... console game... no console game has micro transactions besides free to play ones like fortnite and apex legends.

Splatoon even had a whole DLC added on with a new story mode despite having very regular free updates.

Everyone saying dlc will ruin the game arent really thinking about this logically imo. DLC will increase the length of time people will play the game, and provide new experiences for players who want it. New leaf got boring and repetitive VERY quickly. Welcome amiibo, an update that happened to be free, added a whole new level to the game that brought people back. I'll happily pay $20 for an enhanced animal crossing experience if it means I wont get bored of the same thing day in/day out

If you feel as though any possible DLC would ruin the game then dont get the DLC. It wont ruin anything if you dont personally get it and how other people decide to play wont affect your play style at all. You wouldnt need to buy anything it's just a very likely and exciting possibility that at some point we will get dlc that increase the playability of a world simulation game.

I hope not. I feel like free dlcs would be too much to ask and I don't really have a whole lotta money so I'd probably end up missing out if it was paid.
