Do snowflakes interfere with bug spawns?

Silly question, it just seem like catching bugs is pretty unfun as of late, even on mystery islands. Im not trying to farm a certain bug, but just noticing all bugs are taking long to spawn..... I kinda thought snowflakes might have to do something with it, since you're using a net to catch them and I figure they might take butterflies and dragonflies spawns? Just looking for a answer. Thanks

This is an interesting question. I'm not sure, but I doubt that snowflakes interfere with spawn because cherry blossom petals didn't seem to. However, when my island was in winter, I didn't enjoy bug and fish catching because there are so many fewer species available in winter. I was finding a lot of damselflies and sea bass.

Now that you mention it, I think I've only seen a few dung beetles and damsel flies, but when I go to look online what should be available for December in the N-Hemisphere I haven't seen a whole lot of butterflies or any of the other bugs. And I do have a huge flower oasis. So they should be spawning in that area and they are not.

So maybe the snowflakes do mess up the spawnrate somehow.

I'm in the southern hem so now it's summer, but I got so bored of winter after a month back in july, that I traveled to summer... There are almost no bugs to catch at all, that's normal and comes with the season, like in real life I guess

Besides the fact there are just fewer bugs that spawn now, are you playing with the sound on? Mole crickets started spawning again in November, and I personally wouldn't have realized if I hadn't played with the sound on a few days ago. I remember they were a big problem with tarantula islands while those were still worth doing, so it might be they're taking up many of the remaining spawn slots now, if that makes sense. Snowflakes shouldn't be a problem - cherry blossoms and maple leaves didn't seem to be, either.

I'm playing with sound on, I just hate catching Mole Crickets, unless it involves NMTs. I've read, but not sure if true that Mole Crickets don't really mess with other bug spawns.

i’m honestly not sure, either, but i’ve been wondering the same thing, too; trying to get any bugs to spawn over the last few weeks has honestly been a bit frustrating lmao. even the common ones, like the damselfly and the common butterfly, aren’t showing up very often for me. >_<

I don't think it really messes with the bug spawns, to be honest. I still have plenty damselflies, common butterflies, paper kite butterflies, long horn citrus beetles, and mole crickets, moths, and wharf roaches coming up on my island. And I usually come across a couple of emperor butterflies whenever I'm playing at night as well. Sadly there's just not as many breeds to catch at this time of year, so it probably seems like you're not seeing hardly any.

Yeah, I only notice when I actually want to catch bugs instead of fishing or swimming. I usually like to catch after 7pm. I go around my whole island only hearing Mole Crickets for awhile..... I took me around 30+ minutes to catch bugs till my Net blew up lol

I do not have concrete evidence of this, but I can speak from experience with the spring blossom petals. Those had a massive impact on insect spawns and it was very difficult to find bugs on those days. So, probably. I think they might count against insect spawns internally in some way.

I feel like it does, otherwise, bug spawns are just severely nerfed in December.

I’ve totally noticed that there are a lot less damselflies and citrus long horned beetles, but there seems to be just as many common butterflies and paper kite butterflies as always.

My island is over run with common / paper kite butterflies. I see maybe a handful of other bugs. I maybe see a dung beetle once every couple days that’s about it
