I really like the idea that my mayor was a girl who got kidnapped and was going to be turned into a doll. They started with her eyes, but after getting one out, she died. The kidnappers found it useless to continue (who wants a dead doll?) Once she was dead, she went to heaven, Optical. Which is where she met two other kids (Mercury and Cyanide) One died after having her mouth split open and Cyanide died, well, from ingesting cyanide. Cutie, the mayor, has a post-op patch. Mercury has the doctor's mask, as does Cyanide.

I don't know, that kinda sounds dumb once I re-read it .u.''

So, do you have a backstory?

ooh, i really like your towns backstory. o3o sadly, i don't have a backstory for my town, but now i wish i sort of did. xD

Your story is cool! Reminds me of the movie coraline a little bit :3

Um well my town harajuka was based upon a previous owner of the town who left her town anonymously , the flag of her stays the flag in my town. All she cared about was improving the town rather than talking with villagers. Now that I am the mayor, I'm fixing the town up and making it a safer place for all animals <3

I'm dumb I know ;v;

I do not have a backstory but when I was younger I used to make up backstories all the time for my favorite games. God I feel so old saying that.

Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped turned upside down. And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the mayor of a town called Bel-Air

In Animal Crossing, born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool and all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school... When a couple of villagers who were up to no good started makin' trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared And said you're movin' with Isabelle and Tortimer in Bel-Air

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said "butts", and had Rover in the mirror
If anything I could say that this train was rare
But I thought nah forget it, yo home to Bel-Air!

I pulled up to the town about 7 or 8
And I yelled to River, "Yo Holmes, smell ya later!"
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the mayor of Bel-Air

oh my god i can't stop laughing

about my town, I just recently talked about it in two other threads so I'm going to post it here:

"My town is supposed to be a village in the middle of a forest. It has a very natural theme around, no modern designs or anything like that. The most "modern" things around are the Cafe, Drinking Fountain and Windmill, to give an idea lol

Some of the villagers have been generations living there (Genji, Coco, Poppy, Erik, Blanche, Avery) , some moved in and are a bit more "modern" -more like less traditionally forest-y- (Deirdre, Fauna, O'Hare, Rudy), but still keeping the natural and no-technology theme. That reflects usually on their houses, not on the villagers themselves (for example, Deirdre and Fauna fit right in on the forest theme, but their houses in my village still show that they were not originally from there)"

"For my mayor, I'm thinking it to be Kiki's Delivery Service-esque. Thirteen is the age where all the girls and boys go out to find their place in the world, and she was no different. After traveling by train for a while, she hears about this little village plopped right in the middle of a forest, she decides to check it out. Although surprised to be suddenly the mayor of a town she never set foot on, she feels right at home. Her asthma is 90% better, too, having lived all her life in a big city, the fresh air sure helps with it.

Mom and Dad hear the great news that she finally settled somewhere and start sending letters. They always make plans to visit but are always busy, but Mom always makes time to send letters.

That's just what I made up, but I think it fits quite nicely with the theme of the game. The villagers sometimes talk about how they were scared to move away from home, but are glad they did, so I think it's the same for them. Like the world they live in happens to be full of different species, including humans, all living together, with the same traditions and stuff."

it's kinda simple but it holds a lot of importance to me!

The back story for my town is pretty simple. Basically it's a forest retreat for city animals who want to vacation in a more rural area (so there's no tech related PWPs but the villagers themselves are mostly modern). The city also has some historical sites, hence the Middle Eastern themed castles in the town. My mayor and Yusuf (my 4th alt) are historical re-enactors, hence their older themed houses and clothing. Joshua is the manager of his ocean-themed hotel and Lynn is just a fellow villager who is a contrast to Joshua (both having a nature-themed house, but hers being a more terrestrial themed).

I don't usually unless its based on/off something. I do with my characters though.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I don't know about my town backstory, but I have backstories for each of my characters. Can I tell at least one?

well this is a town backstory thread, not character. you talk about your characters all the time so like. yeah.

=

mine is kinda personal for me
flint is a boy who arrived on a train with no recollection whatsoever. he quickly adapts to his new life in wynwood and making it a better place. isabelle is slightly put off by him because:
1) he says he doesnt know where he came from
2) he has the same birthday as her (and her brother), just like her last mayor

isabelle had worked under a mayor named miranda in a town called seattle. it was a prosperous town and was beautiful. the mayor was best friends with a wolf named whitney, who had been there even before the mayor was. it was quite evident that the two were inseperable. however, the mayor started staying in her house. she wouldnt come out for days. isabelle was worried about her and did her best to keep the town up and running.
one day, miranda came out of her house. she boarded a train and left. she didnt say anything to anybody.
isabelle got a letter from her the day after. she said that it was time. she also told her to look for new employment. seattle eventually went away. villagers moved out, finding new towns. when isabelle left for wynwood, only whitney remained. she was determined that miranda would come back. she never would do this, she said. as far as isabelle knows, shes still there.

one day, isabelle was invited over to mayor flints house. hed only been there for a few days but had such beautiful furniture (princess series). a picture, that he said was among his belongings in his locker, was displayed on a table.
it was whitneys picture.

TLDR;
isabelle believes that her new mayor, flint, is actually her old mayor, miranda, because of all the similarities. flint, however, doesnt remember anything.
its personal because when i made my previous town, i still felt like a girl, but not anymore. i feel like i have no gender but with male pronouns, hence why flint is a male character in-game.

I guess you can if they form a part of a backstory for your town. :) Otherwise, there's a thread for character backstories you could bring back or you can start one for it because that would be fun.

The first post in this thread is very character-based and I don't think you were the one creating this thread so like. yeah.

Sure I can. But instead of bumping an old thread, making a new thread about it is what I'll do.

I don't have a town backstory, but I do have a story of how I prepared for it and journalized what I did during my quests. I'm just not that creative.

I'd really love to hear about it (it may be off-topic in this thread, so you can PM me or link me to somewhere you've posted about it?) because I wish I had the dedication to have a journal about my town. Sometimes I'm trying to remember stuff I've done in it in the past and can't.

I don't have a genuine backstory but essentially,

Asheven was Nashiro's fantasy town when she was a child, always playing around with her twin sister Kurona. They would build a mock society together, making their plush toys their citizens and they would pretend to be mayor with each other. Often, they'd drag their cousin Kaneki into the drama, where he'd run the entertainment functions in Asheven. Their childhood days were bright and free.

One day, in real life, Kurona and Nashiro got into an accident at 18 years old. Both in critical condition. One made it, and the other didn't.

All Nashiro could remember when she woke up from the accident was her name, the name "Asheven" and the broken memories of a black haired girl who always promised her "We'll be the bestest of mayors ever!". She doesn't remember her past, her present or her future. And one day when a boy named Kaneki popped into town to live with her did she remember that she was his cousin and that he was a good helpsman, often holding stuff for her when her house is full.

She gets letters from "mum" sometimes. Who is mum? Why is she sending Nashiro letters? With items? Nashiro doesn't know and only feels numbness when she dwelves too far in the past. So, Nashiro lives on instead, drowning in the ghost of the black haired girl and herself plotting the village of Asheven. The animals felt almost close to home, but she couldn't understand what the feeling behind 'home' was.

....

In reality,
Kurona is alive, paralyed forever.

Nashiro is in Critical condition, in a medically induced coma that's risking to her in a vegetable state.

Kaneki committed suicide, but was found and now is mentally numb. It was him who crashed the car and ruined their lives.

Nashiro and Kuronas parents sit by Nashiro telling her stories and let her hold some objects to "feel" again in hopes to wake her up.

She's stuck in this world, as is Kaneki, where the air is thick with memories.

This makes me want to write a store or draw a comic or something?
