Do you keep ALL marked stumps?

I didn't keep a Butterfly one because it was when I was doing a massive organization of all greenery in my town. I did keep another Butterfly stump, and I have a Triforce one as well that's luckily in a good spot.

I kept the tri force one in the beginning of the game. Now I don't have any. The music note and clover are rare ones that grow rare mushrooms. Those may be worth keeping if you're looking for those.

I keep them because i like to see villagers sitting on them once in a while. 
I don't keep all of mine. I have gotten stumps when cutting down trees that were in the way when I was setting down a path, but go rid of them regardless. I did keep a stump with a musical note from a regular axe, but I ended up getting another one and wasn't very sad when Axel destroyed the first musical note stump when he moved in.

I want to have every tree stump design in my town (just need clover, citrus & triforce). I have a few areas around my town that I want the stumps in, so I plant a tree, let it grow and then cut it down (2 strikes with gold axe and last strike with silver axe, 100% chance of getting special design). If it's a repeat design, I did it up and try again.
I've got all but 3 special stumps.
I keep them all unless it's a duplicate, in which case, I dig up the one in the less convenient place.

Also, only certain bugs can be found on stumps, so it's a good idea to have a couple

I have (okay, will have) an area just for special tree stumps so I can have a mushroom farm. Also, I like saying I have a "mushroom" farm.
I thought about doing this, would look sweet to have them all next to each other but would just take sooooo long to achieve...

Silver axe, 100% chance of getting a special design. I have never had it fail. Just be sure to use the golden axe (or regular axe, if you don't have the golden one) for the first 2 strikes, then switch to the silver axe. This way your silver axe will last longer. I love the mushrooms that grow around them also. Will be using some for the Harvest Festivale when Franklin comes to town.
Every tree you cut down with a silver axe has a special stump?

I cant believe I didn't know this D:
Because I have never found or been able to acquire a Silver Axe in my game, I keep all the marked stumps I find. I only have four and they're all relatively close to each other, but I still like them.

Like Rendra, I want to have one of each eventually. I am not working towards getting them but if a new one happens to pop up while cutting down a tree for some reason, then I will keep it. I like my town having a "hap-hazard random" look to it.
I've had several destroyed by new villagers plopping their houses on top of one. That's why I now have certain areas where I want my stumps at now. Near PWP, near cliffs, my house or villager's houses that will never be allowed to leave.
