Do you like or dislike that time/seasons in the game is the same as time in the real world?

Not so sure how to feel about a system where the game days are the same as real life.

Some say they hate waiting and being limited to a certain time. To experience some special days, like toy day or groundhog day, you have to wait an entire year and play the day of the event. You need to be very patient to experience the whole game. Or if work and can only spare time to play during the night, the game will be night for 90% of your gameplay. Change the system time to go to any day time and season you want is possible, but it's always a hassle and breaks the immersion of your gameplay.

Others say that they LOVE the fact the game is always relevant. It's always the same year in the game as the real life year, it's spring in the game when it's spring in real life and even get to celebrate Christmas (toy day) inside the game! They say it gives them a sense the are also part of the animal crossing world and part of their everyday world.

Which side you agree with?

Time/seasons in the game being like in real life is good or no?

Animal Crossing always had this formula and it was something I was super amazed with when I played City Folk for the first time. I personally love it how the seasons and time/date are always synced up with what's going on in the real world.

I work on weekdays and some weekends so I don't get to see the middle of the day too much in the game, but even so, I enjoy playing during the mornings and evenings a lot!

This is just how Animal Crossing is. In my opinion, if the game weren’t real time, it wouldn’t be Animal Crossing. People should feel free to TT— I did, back in New Leaf— but I wouldn’t want the game to handle time differently at all.

I love it. Having both time and seasons match real life feels right. I just wish stores could stay open later on Friday and Saturday nights.

That's one complaint I have too. I want stores to be open until 11 like in New Leaf. At least they've added the sell box, though.

I love that it's in real time. It's just part of the mechanics of Animal Crossing. I can understand some of the reasons people have for disliking it, but it should never, ever be changed. Especially when time-traveling is, realistically, a very simple solution to those issues. There are plenty of other games that don't run on real time. Animal Crossing is meant to be different from them, and to be played differently.

honestly that doesn't make much sense to me. many other games don't "exist in real time" yet they don't break immersion. i think the fact that the game is in real time makes it immersive. and if playing at a time other than what you're actually experiencing is immersion breaking, then i guess you'll have to pick your poison.

i dont think the way the game's time works is actually as excluding as people think it is. yes some people may not be able to play during the day, but it's honestly an easy fix. if your morals get in the way of it (not wanting to tt for example), then maybe play regularly despite the problem or find a way around not being able to play when your shops are open (catching things at night, getting up at 8 to sell; change time to only sell and shop; visit other people's islands).

the fact that this game is in real time isn't actually all too uncommon. multiplayer games are technically in real time; in FFXIV your roulettes are once a day, and dailies and such reset at specific times. sure it's not the same as what Animal Crossing games do, but the concept isn't entirely new.

i personally like that this game is in real time. i literally play all day and find things to do. i used to say to not expect to play all day to people inquiring about this game, but honestly i think it's safe to say you can expect to do that with this iteration of the series i can get a lot of the things i do daily done within an hour, or draw out doing it for more than an hour and not feel stressed. i can just chill and listen to the music, or catch bugs and fish for bells. and i dont feel like i have any time constraint like in other games (stardew valley for example).

the way this game operates is definitely a bit of an acquired taste. it does work differently from many of simulation-like games, but that doesn't mean it's bad. every game has something that makes it unique, and animal crossing's signature is the real time gameplay.

Being in real time is one of the things that make the game so unique. It makes you excited to come back each day, especially those who don't TT and just let things come day by day. It makes the world feel so much more real and I love that!

I got into AC long before the mobile game fab or well mobile phone was even a thing or smartphone to put it. Otherwise I would think this was nothing more than a mobile game if I started it now since this is the same style as mobile game minus the pay vault.

I don't mind. I like being able to enjoy all four seasons in-game because where I live, I don't have that option. :lemon:

i don't have a lot of time to play every day and i don't TT, but i really like that it's in real time. i don't mind taking it slow, going through the day-by-day and watching the seasons change like in real time, and people who don't like the waiting or want to see future things can time travel! i like that the game is really open to people on either side :)

I like it. Makes my town feel more real when time progresses like it does in real-life.

I love it, it's possibly my favourite aspect of the game. Can't imagine Animal Crossing without real-time.

the whole appeal of animal crossing to me so many years ago when i picked up wild world was that it was synced to real time!
