Do you make houses, or follow their theme?

The first time around, I will give them what they want. When I'm done, I will go back later and change it into a house with a particular set of furniture I think would match. I don't like it when their houses are doctor's offices or cafes. I don't know why, but I just think it looks so much cuter when it actually has house furniture like a couch, a bed, etc.

What do you like to do?

For Aurora I made a side room as a "small apartment" off of her flower shop. But otherwise I tend to go for a theme as much as I can.

I follow the theme! I like putting their favorite furniture and stuff that matches their appearance or personality.

Another solution: VillagerA wants a house. VillagerB wants a restaurant instead of a house. Stick an extra bed in VillagerA's house, call VillagerB over via amiibo card, and BAM! they're roommates now, houses for everyone.

Do cards scanned in certain houses stay there whenever you visit? Or do you have to keep scanning them?

They appear to stay. v3lla scanned a buncha' villagers into someone's house, went back a month later and the party was still going on.

3 years later we visit bunnies house. Everyone is still dancing around the cake. Bunnie's face has gone hollow. WHEN CAN WE EAT THE DAMN CAKE?!?!?!

I want to add that I don't always change it. Some of the themes I keep, but I like to make them house-like. I usually only change the ones that are like restaurants, shops, factories, wrestling rings and stuff like that.

I follow the theme. I think it's more interesting that way. If I kept doing exactly what I wanted, the game would probably lose it's appeal to me pretty quickly. I think following the theme, at least somewhat, helps with giving me more ideas for my side characters' homes in new leaf :)

I usually follow the theme- it's pretty fun that way :3 Although if there's a particular theme that I really don't like, I'll either tweak it or change it altogether :p

Yeah I do this pretty much too, I will give them the shop or restaurant, but for some of them I will do a little house, I am planning to go back to a lot of them and give them like an attic living space/apartment.
