I've used amiibo mostly, and I don't know what the campsite method is, reading up on it now.

However, I like island hopping and playing about with RNG. It's the most I'll ever get to scamcha without spending actually money on it.

I like island hopping, its so fun! I did this a lot in the beginning of the game before I really had any dreamies picked out, and I found so many cool villagers. I'm glad NH has this option now, its way more fun than waiting for a new campsite villager every so often (if you dont TT) or just leaving it up to chance. I also prefer to get villagers myself instead of adopting from other people, so island hopping is a great was to do this. I've had pretty good luck with it so far, but I can imagine it being really frustrating if you are looking for one specific villager.

I've never done the campsite method before so I'll go with island hopping. It's fun to see the different kinds of villagers that I run into but I get sad when I see really cute ones that I can't invite because they're not the personality that I'm looking for.

My last Island I just traded for all my villagers and got them pretty fast. Definitely not as exciting but it was definitely the quickest method.

This time since I have a bunch of tickets to waste and am in no rush I'll just go Island hopping.

Oh and I brought official amiibo cards for 2 villagers I like (Ken, Sheldon) because why not. Haven't even scanned a single amiibo in so it'll be a new experience.

Island hopping for me. I would love to be able to use the campsite method, but since I don't time travel, it is out of the question. I just wait to see if I have campers and so far I haven't had any campers I like lolol. As for trading villagers, I have seen too many stories about getting scammed so it has put me off from trading villagers. Plus, I have read some people saying that when you trade villagers, they still wear clothes from previous owners and their houses aren't their original houses either T~T I thought complaining to Isabelle about it would help, but people have said it doesn't.

That's a tough one. I don't have any amiibo cards cause they are expensive now. I have traded but I was the giver and it was only once(tried a 2nd time but no one wanted her). I like the island and the campsite method for different reasons. Both are random but the island more so since the campsite will give you personalities you are missing. This is good if the villager you want has that missing personality(that's how I got Raymond). When I island hop I've learned not to do it with the intention of only taking certain villagers cause when I did that I passed on a cute villager and didn't end up with anyone and got stuck with a voided villager. So now when I go if I find who I wanted great but if I find someone else I like I'll keep them(though last time I did get Molly who is one of my dreamies). And obviously island hopping you can do repeatedly whereas campsite is they show up when they show up.

None of the above. I liked island hopping at first but seeing the same villager over and over became way too frustrating for me. I didn’t do any online trading for nmt so I didn’t have hundreds at my disposal, so seeing the ones I grinded for get wasted on repeat villagers just killed it for me. :/
Campsite method involves a ton of time travelling which I didn’t want to do, and plus my campsite is cursed so no one ever visits it. Lol
I prefer not to trade for villagers because I don’t like when they talk about their old towns but I heard they don’t do it as much (or at all?) in this game, so I made exactly 1 villager trade and it was for Judy so you can guess what my preferred method for getting villagers is. :P

It’s amiibo

campsite hands down.
I tossed a mess of NMTs at island hopping and I enjoy doing that for materials and a change of scenery but always got garbage options when I had a plot open, but also I have the first four sets of amiibo cards completed and have most of my favorite welcome amiibo cards so the only real *need* for me was for new villagers who didn't have amiibo cards available.
I purchased Audie from someone and that was fine but when I came to terms with the fact I would never be able to amass the sheer number of tickets I'd need to get Raymond from someone I decided to go with the campsite method and it worked like a charm. Can not recommend it enough lol

Island hopping.

That moment of excitement when you get past the cut scenes and walk onto the island in anticipation of finding a villager you're looking for is 👌

It takes a lot longer but I love the surprise and finding other cuties I didn't realize I wanted.

I voted for trading because that's how I always got the villagers I wanted in New Leaf, however it just kinda hit me that I haven't traded for a villager in New Horizons yet? RNG has been pretty good with my random move ins (which have mostly been voids, surprisingly). I think my most lucky voids were Lily and Lucky himself. The most I've island hopped was 8 times, and by the 8th island I got Audie. :'0 I'm in the process of deleting my island though, so I guess when I start looking for villagers on my new island I'll see what I lean more towards. I'd also be more inclined to use my amiibo cards since I have many villagers I'm fond of, however I find it tedious to scan them in 3 times oof... (I am.. lazy). If/when I scan someone in I'd definitely only do it if they were a dreamy.

Amiibo > Trading > Island Hopping > Campsite

When I see people island hopping or using the campsite.

Island hopping was pretty fun and decent at the start of the game, though if I want a specific villager, it is a waste of time.

Campsite method for me. Island hopping is a scam. Lol. And I don’t like villagers with memories of a previous island plus I like the feeling of getting them myself so I don’t trade.
How do you get a lot of villagers in your campsite? I've only gotten like 4 visitors and I've played for 100 hours!

The campsite method was definitely more effective when I wanted someone specific, but I didn’t enjoy having to clean up all the mail and weeds after. And it was pretty soul crushing ‘cause it took like 4 irl days to find Raymond! Island hopping is a lot more fun, especially now that I’m no longer looking for anyone specific. It’s fun seeing who I run into!

The campsite method is only effective if you time travel...A LOT.
I do time travel, but not a ton. Only when I'm trying to move out a villager or do stalk market things or smthn like that, and I always tt back to present day eventually. That's probably why it hasn't worked for me, haha

I believe you can't have a campsite visitor on days you have already had a visitor, which is why a lot of people doing this jump a few years ahead so it doesn't affect anything.

Huh! In that case I wonder how the game knows that a game day has occurred twice... interesting!
