I see videos about it.. But, I'm not sure..
I hate to admit it but I've just accepted that we aren't going to get anything worthwhile for an update. Nintendo and NH just struck gold with their timing of NH's release. Any other time I feel like the majority of us wouldn't had been so accepting of its barebone state on launch.
I remember when a game called Phantasy Star Online 2 was supposed to come overseas. Every year Sega gave the same promise they hadn't forgotten us, but after a while I just gave up hope of it coming overseas. Now almost 10 years later they're trying to finally bring it overseas to the Switch apparently lol.
At this point, I think a lot of people on the fence have already sailed their ships. If they truly are holding on to things, they should had dropped them sooner. I remember going through comments somewhere else about the current updates and the social media backlash which made Doug give his speech about 'things are on the way!' He would not have given that announcement otherwise. It was a kneejerk reaction.Same. It’s really sad. In spite how long it took, if they gave us a big update with a lot of the stuff everyone wants (they don’t need to give us everything but they do need to do better than what they’ve given us so far), that could not only get me back to playing but consider buying the next AC, but because of how this is handled I may never spend as much time as I used to with the game and definitely won’t buy the new game assuming they will think the way they handle NH is “perfect” model for how they handle the next one.
On the bright side for me and not for them, I can focus on other games I want to get and play and I can’t do both. I can only play one game at a time.
Well, they still have to “unlock” the Halloween items on October 1, when they become available, even though they aren’t really locked
You're 100% right, however the way lots of people seem to be is that they'll buy any new game from any franchise they love. Just look at Pokemon Sword and Shield for example. The backlash online was intense, yet it still sold extremely well. In order for companies to give a crap is for there to be little to no sales. Otherwise why would they change when they can sell unfinished games for bank?At this point, I think a lot of people on the fence have already sailed their ships. People commented on those articles and posts about how it was 'too little too late' for them. And it wasn't just a small pocket, the numbers were big and those who upvoted/liked/gave points to their comment were in the thousands. That's not a good image. That should be making them sweat about the future prospects of their next game. Not sitting on it because they made bank on an opportune time and took advantage of it.
But yeah I haven't really touched NH all that much this or last month. I only hopped on to do the event challenges and that was about it. Come to think of it, one of those days Redd was on and I bought some legit art and it's still in my mailbox lol. I've been getting into Stardew Valley. Just recently picked it up and I never realized it was like a harvest moon farm simulator. I like it. Reminds me of HM64 with HM-snes graphics.
Also hoping to pick up where I left off on Persona 5. I didn't get very far at all. Somewhere during the 2nd chapter about a renowned artist?
Ah that's true! I forgot all about the new fans. Though in NH's case I can't exactly blame them since they probably didn't know past AC games and/or expect NH to be as barebones as it is. Though, neither did returning fans. I don't entirely blame Nintendo specifically for this but it seems like a lot of games have the "spit out now, update later" mentality which I'm not a fan of. If I had known NH was going to be unfinished, I would have held off.@Corrie I think part of the problem with the new Pokemon was the fact that there were a lot of new fans joining or ones who had just came back after it moved back to system and not handheld. So they boosted the sales regardless of how well handled the previous games were. I wouldn't know because I don't really get into Pokemon. The last ones I had were on the gba lol.
I feel like that's sort of why NH did so well to. As well as parents buying games for their children. They don't really know about the game or look into it. But with NH, I've noticed that kids haven't been utilizing the game's new features as much as adults have been. The series has always been marketed as family/children, but it's clear this game and how complex the new features are were lost on a lot of kids. I know a few families around with kids who have this game and online where they barely touched the features, tried and gave up, and or bailed on the game early on. Heck if they even made it through the week tutorial. So to me the game has definitely shifted it's focus and demographic quite a bit.
So I'll definitely be holding off on any future AC titles myself. By myself I probably won't matter, but I hope they don't become as bad as Gamefreak.
