Do you think acnh will get an update nexy month?

I’m just baffled at how extremely lazy the people who are responsible for this game are. This game has huuuuuge potential due to great graphics and online.
They instead chose to do the bare minimum and still had success Bc the pandemic basically was a catalyst for sales. Fans don’t even ask for crazy unrealistic things imo. They just want this content the game is missing from previous Games. This attitude of Nintendo disappoints me, it feels like they don’t care about making their fans happy at all. It feels like a joke at this point lol.
That being said, as others mentioned before: I don’t think there will be an update coming soon that’s more than the seasonal catalogue items. There definitely won’t be any mention at E3 and not until late October either when they announce that jack is back and you get to order the Halloween stuff that’s already in the game.
I just accepted ACs fate at this point lol
I wonder what fans in Japan think abt the state of the game. Does anyone know if they’re just as frustrated?

Ah that's true! I forgot all about the new fans. Though in NH's case I can't exactly blame them since they probably didn't know past AC games and/or expect NH to be as barebones as it is. Though, neither did returning fans. I don't entirely blame Nintendo specifically for this but it seems like a lot of games have the "spit out now, update later" mentality which I'm not a fan of. If I had known NH was going to be unfinished, I would have held off.
Yep. My eleven year old cousin who got this game needed my help to get through the tutorial. This was her first game in the series. She was really stressed out. Animal Crossing shouldn’t be causing stress. It’s supposed to be a fun and relaxing game. I felt bad. I wish her introduction to the franchise was a lot smoother. This is a bad game to be introduced with…

Aw, I'm glad you were there to help her out! But you're right. Animal Crossing isn't supposed to be hard. WW was my first AC game and while it isn't the best in the series, I definitely didn't need help with anything. I was around 12 years old when I got it.

I feel this. It's like they were just releasing the game for the sake of having Animal Crossing on the Switch. All we've seen with updates so far are things that were either delayed from release (Dream Suite) or just purposely withheld (All holidays, Leif, Redd, Diving).

The Switch should have been revolutionary for Animal Crossing, where we'd continue to see improvements and new additions added month by month until the end of the game's life or Switch's life. Unlike the past games where you'd buy them, and that was that.

I get the pandemic might have slowed their post-release update schedule, but the game had been in development for years before COVID. They hadn't even had proper plans for anything outside of the prologue? 1 shop upgrade? No city? No Roost?

1-year anniversary and all we get is a cake. No April Fools day. E3 post 1-year anniversary? Nothing.

If any one aspect spells lazy though, it's the fact that Town Hall/Plaza can't be moved in a game that is entirely focused on moving buildings and landscape to your liking. There is 0 reason for this.

Dude the tutorial was such a slog for me lol. And it made me stop and go 'wait a minute, if this is not fun for me, I can only imagine what young me and kids would feel.' I didn't like how it was so rigid either. Like there was no side-stepping things to do things 'your way' like the game expressed itself. They had a set pattern that could not be done any way but the way they set it up. It was way to linear for a game that is supposed to be a life sim.

Your cousin wasn't the only one who needed help. I've heard plenty of posts/articles about this. If they just didn't give up right away and go do something else that is.

@JKDOS I didn't like that there wasn't even any mention of your 1 year island status or being congratulated on making it this far like they did in NL. It really makes the game feel so impersonal and soulless compared to the passion I could feel that came with NL and the previous games. Holidays should had never been timelocked either. Like did they actually never have the stuff done during the 1st delay or did they hope it could work for padding to fool most of us?

For a game that had been in development for 2 or more years before the pandemic hit, is launch date content really the only stuff they had finished? Where were they spending their time from 2018-2020? I can only imagine they were in dev way before the 1st announcement during Isabelle's intro to Smash. Because even this stuff could had used a QoL update before it came out at launch.

NH was this crew's first AC and it def shows.

Although I am not the target audience for animal crossing, as an adult (obviously I found the tutorial very easy and straightforward, for example) I would like to comment as a new player to the series.

while I do think I benefited from coming to the game with no preconceptions or specific expectations, I do not agree that I am unable to understand how the game differs from previous ones or that i just have lower standards or only enjoy the game due to ignorance.

I can understand why people want some specific furniture sets back, in particular the ones that are very specifically themed in different styles. This makes total sense to me, and I get that it is an area where my lack of expectations may be a blessing. I’m also not very set on any specific theme. (I play pocket camp, but don’t have any really strong attachment to any of those items at the moment)

I understand that new leaf seems to have had more multi-player interactive options. Since I am not really a social player or interested in more than casual visiting of friends islands this doesn’t appeal to me personally, but I can see that for some people it would matter more.

I can also understand why people might miss characters from previous games that they were attached to, I get very attached to characters. I also don’t think it is wrong for the game to add in new characters and remove old ones, because of course they are actively trying to change the game. I don’t think that is a bad or wrong decision, even though I fully understand why some people won’t like it. (though I personally find flick ’s overall design is just great and he is one of my favorite characters)

I mention all this to say that I do truly sympathize with and respect the dissatisfaction with the game, even if I don’t share these opinions.

but I also do not like or feel that it is fair to say or imply that the game is objectively bad and therefore those who like it must just not understand or be unable to appreciate the deficiencies. the merits and faults of the game are subjective, and I don’t think that it is right or fair to say one side is ‘wrong’ in their opinion.

I do love this game, just as it is. Even though I will be happy to see it get updates of things people are missing. I am happy for people to express all the dissatisfaction they want, but please don’t make it about saying others are in the wrong.

note - I didn’t quote anyone for my post, because I don’t want it to feel like a call out post or attack anyone. I like to think that people don’t mean to imply that people who like the game are wrong/ ignorant. If you don’t think it is wrong to like the game as it is, then this is not directed at you, honestly.

on the topic of the thread. I don’t think there will be an update this month, but have not given it much thought or sought out any info on which to base my opinion. I think a big update is coming, but I have no idea when. I doubt it will be all things to all people, but I hope it will bring some of what people are hoping for.

at this point it feels like every month there's a new video saying "next month guys!! this'll be when we get content!!". because yeah, summer would've made sense to bring around a big update. now we're approaching autumn and again, it seems to make sense to think this is the kind of time we'd be getting new content, especially when the main thing we feel like we're 'owed' in a way is the Roost, and what better time to introduce hot drinks than the cooling of the seasons?
i am afraid to get my hopes up and have almost given up entirely on getting decent updates, but i am very open to being surprised and proven wrong

It would be nice to have a new game update but for now I don’t think we will have one till at least Halloween for those new items that we got a tease look at in Aug when the new food items came out.

the short answer is: no

i hate how nintendo keeps saying that there’s going to be an update soon but it ends up being something small like just a few items. stop getting our hopes up, i would much rather they not tell us they will have a new update a month from now and just drop the big update one day out of the blue. but i guess even then i’d be complaining about the lack of information about update development. it makes me wonder why nintendo doesn’t do anything more regularly with this game considering that it’s sales were huge in the beginning of the pandemic. all they do is capitalize on merch like the puma thing and the disappointing build a bear collab.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they haven't done this in like 6 months or so. And when they were doing it it was for notable updates such as festivale or Halloween being introduced to new horizons.

The only reason we know when updates will be coming since like the mario one is based on time locked holidays that need to be activated.

Due to backlash (probably due to that, can't be certain though), they have told us that there will be something coming later this year, but they did not say what or when. Just that the game has not been forgotten.

Speaking of which, I still believe the 8 chairs at the airport will be used for some kind of multiplayer mini game or group transport some day.
I believe this as well. I think it could be used to take us to tortimers island. It’s the one thing that gives me a little hope we might get tortimers island and mini games back.

im hoping that happens but you know nintendo, it could just be there for aesthetic purposes.

I'm not going to lie. If I was one of the developers for the game, I would be radio silent too. The community has given such backlash on things that I would feel like the thing I put my time into was being smeared. And honestly... why bother getting hyped about it when so many people are crying about not having the same things that were in previous games. The same things. Like they want to keep things the same and not make anything new? I'm sorry, but I just don't get it.

I have never been as invested in an Animal Crossing game before. Wild World was fun and all, but I didn't play it much. City Folk was great, I liked it a lot, but only played it for about a year. New Leaf was pretty cool, although I missed some of the charms of City Folk, but definitely enjoyed the new parts of it. Wound up playing it for about a year, and then off and on. New Horizons has been such a breath of fresh air for me, being able to decorate my island however I want it to look. And that, for me, has been a HUGE selling point on it. I don't even utilize the terraforming much at all, and I remember that being such a big deal, and everybody saying that that's something they've always wanted to be able to do. Now we have it... and it's just not good enough.

Now I'm not here to dump on anybody, but I genuinely do not understand the obsession with needing everything from a previous title. Why would we discourage new? You can't actually possibly expect that everything from a previous title will be included from the get go, and then have even more on top of it too. That's just not how games work. And if you think that it is, and you really think you know what you're talking about and asking for, then put your money where your mouth is and give us the product you seem to think would be so dang easy to create.

Do I think the game is perfect? No. There's a bunch of stuff that could be tweaked and patched up, and yes, updates to add stuff in. But at this point, I feel like there's so much negativity that if I were a developer, I wouldn't even know what to do to make people happy. Because at the end of the day, no matter what's given, people aren't happy. And that's discouraging.

@DarkSlayer1331 I don't speak for everyone who is not as hyped as others for NH, but it's not so much that I want all, most, or some of the cut content back from the old games. I just want something, even if this something stuff is new. And not like hand-held items that they've been dropping lately. And some of the old content like writing letters was fixed, when it didn't need to be fixed and was fine as it was.

It's a lot more of a slog to write a letter in this game than any other so I never bother to do that for my villagers when I did take the time to do so every now and then for the other games.

It's not any secret that they cut a lot of the old content out, but they also didn't really add a lot of new stuff to compensate for the stuff they took out. That is where most people who aren't as hyped for NH sit at. There is terraforming and crafting, two really big new additions to the mainline games, but to me they don't carry the game enough for the amount of content they cut and have not reintroduced as old/new content. If anyone thinks they do, that is great and I'm glad that you're able to fully enjoy the experience. But this game seems to have quite the divide so there should be a middle ground.

It doesn't help that a lot of the new content solely focuses on designing your island and a lot of the other stuff has been put on the backburner. I used to enjoy villager interactions and I just can't get into it with this game. Had I known that this game would focus so heavily on being a designing simulator I wouldn't had minded so much, but I was under the impression it was going to be similar to the other games.

Do I expect any big updates, whether old or new? Not really. I've moved on and accepted the game for what it is.

I think there is nothing wrong with liking the game as it is and I think it is understand especially since this is your first animal crossing game. While I personally am dissatisfied with the game and how the company handled it, I think it is great that you are happy and I appreciate hearing your perspective. You are always respectful to different opinions and never talk down to anyone.
Everyone is entitled to feel however they want to. What I don’t like is seeing people insulting or talking down to others for being too positive or too negative. Or people lumping in the people having constructive discussions as being too nitpicky and greedy. Both sides have been guilty in the past. I get why people get annoyed with constant complaining — complaining like: this game sucks. i wish for this and this. Not constructive criticism: I am tired of this game. This game had so much potential. It got this right but it would be so much better for this…I do admit i personally get tired of seeing identical threads an argument copied and pasted elsewhere and feel a bit uncomfortable but I will just not read the thread instead of going out of my way to attack them.

Sorry for sidetracking a bit; wanted to respond to some of your points and let you know I know you aren’t attacking anyone and don’t blame you at all for how you feel.

you are always so considerate of me and my absurd love for this game.

you have helped me have a lot more balanced view of things and much more understanding, along with other members here, for what people are missing, why they are upset, and why they want more added to the game, which I really appreciate! (And have no desire to defend Nintendo from any criticism, which is likely well deserved)

I just really cannot help how much I love it - I really do understand what people say but for me I am just so happy to have found this series and get so much ongoing meaningful enjoyment from playing (and from the forum too, which has meant a lot to me in the last year!)

but yeah, I never want to invalidate anyone’s feelings, and I do try to avoid threads where it is just not for me. Just have to pop up occasionally in more neutral threads and express my own view point, especially when I see people speculating on how anyone could like the game. I always get really nervous about having it misperceived, but luckily am pretty much always proven wrong!

thanks for taking the time to respond to me so nicely😊.

I think it might have a pattern similar to that, but not necessarily every month

I'd also like to briefly share my support for @WaileaNoRei, she likes my posts a lot, and that means a lot to me.

As for "do I think there's going to be an update this month?" I think we've got two updates max left this year (unless you're counting game years, in which case we've got 3-4 updates left) going by the pattern set by last year's updates.

One for Halloween, and one for Turkey Day and Toy Day.

We know there's something coming later this year, given how Nintendo have specifically said about it beneath the blog post for the most recent update, but we don't specifically know when.

This is kinda clouded by the fact that there's a load of stuff for events in October and November that weren't announced in the blog post, but I generally think this was a built-in contingency plan in case they still weren't caught up on development by October-November.

I do think there's a good chance that they might do another blog post saying "hey, new update isn't finished yet, see you in November, but when 1.11.1.a comes out, here's what you'll be able to enjoy until then!" but in general I think there's a very good chance of a Nintendo Direct in the next couple of weeks, and there's at least some chance that some of the stuff we've seen datamined in the past 6 months will finally be unveiled there... so yeah, I think the next update will be this month, even if it's just a server-side BCAT thing to unlock Halloween again.

(sidenote: no news on a direct yet, but they did shadow drop the surprise return of Big Brain Academy on Twitter today, which imo rounds off one of the Switch's most interesting (calendar) years. WarioWare, Metroid, Advance Wars, Famicom Detective Club, Game Builder Garage... a really nice mixture of stuff with some dormant IPs returning, even if some are basically "but will this franchise sell?" remakes, which are nice in some ways and a blatant cash in on nostalgia in another)
