I don't see why not? Some people speak many languages and there's google translate to convert our posts to whichever language the seeker speaks! I'd be happy for them to see all the ideas posted because we truly would love for them to be in the game!
Limiting your search option to one country wouldn't be a very useful way to gather information, so looking across many forums across the world would be the way to go! ✧︎◝︎(*?꒳`*)◜︎✧︎˖
Let me add this too... Even if people didn't search here, who's to say that someone like a guest isn't coming here and posting ideas used here on another forum or platform? Japanese natives could also post the ideas used here to their forums etc... That's how rumours get started too (○︎-艸・)*:゚・☆︎
I wonder about this all the time LOL. I have no idea but I think it would be smart to do so when things are in the development stage so that they can have an idea of what the fanbase is thinking! After all we're the ones who are going to buy (or not buy) what they make
I wouldn't be surprised if a few people from Nintendo have glanced at this forum before. After all, it's one of the largest English Animal Crossing communities right now. I'm sure they pay more attention to Japanese forums though, simply due to the language barrier. Do I think any of our discussions are actually going to change anything in an Animal Crossing game? Probably not.
It's certainly possible. I heard recently that Reggie Fils-Aim?, who was the head of Nintendo of America and in charge of marketing, was the deciding factor in stopping Nintendo from changing its logo to have graffiti-style font. So even though it's a Japanese company, I think they do have a lot of respect for what their Western offices think would appeal to a Western audience. And of course, community support is part of understanding that audience. Sure they have their own surveys, but they might get their ideas of what to ask based on online communities, using the surveys to verify if this is a widespread belief.
It's possible they look at reddit, but depending on the subreddits they can be heavy on memes, karma-farming, and just contentless fanboying and less about actual discussion/critique, etc. So they might feel it necessary to supplement reddit by looking at other sources to gauge fan reactions. I just hope they don't put too much stock in twitter lol.
I think they do honestly. Even if this site is obscure to many people I don’t see why Nintendo wouldn’t want to snoop around here to gather information on what fans would want added onto the game.
i remember during one of the old nintendo treehouse presentations (possibly smash ultimate?) a treehouse employee gave a shoutout to a nintendo related gaming subreddit and mentioned that they do in fact read what people are posting online. ever since the switch released i've noticed nintendo has been upping their game in terms of listening to player feedback.
they still make boneheaded decisions though...
as for the bell tree forums, i doubt they pay us much attention because we're not as big but it would be nice if they did.
