Do you think the next main title will suffer from City Folk's problem?

City Folk is often criticized as being Wild World but on a console and with small improvements. This is especially apparent due to them completely re-using Wild World's soundtrack but in higher definition. So, if we're right about the next main title being on a console, such as the Wii U, do you think it will suffer from this problem? Do you think the next main title will just be New Leaf but in HD, or do you think Animal Crossing has moved on from that and we could see possibly the most creative main series title on a console since Population Growing?

honestly im hoping they do something similar with how things looked in the mario kart ac course with the perspective being lower and things bigger so the town will really feel bigger and see a new view of things (itll still play the same mostly lol)

Agreed, that would be a dream come true! Just imagine, venturing around a huge town in glorious HD. It would be just like the 2006 movie! Remember how huge Ai's town was? I'm gonna be ticked off if the next game is just a rehash of New Leaf's graphics, kind of like a certain spin-off game revolving around amiibo...

yeah i agree :)
the mario kart 8 course of it was beautiful, obviously itll be tweaked a little, things were slightly too big, but id love if the view was behind you and up slightly, not enough to make you over see the world, just see around your character good, along with bigger trees and houses like the movie, itll really seem like a forest to me XD
itll be a way to differentiate between the console and handheld versions :)

I dunno, sales for Wild World and New Leaf have both been waaaaaaaaay higher than they were for the original game and for City Folk.

It's the kind of game that a lot of people probably prefer as a handheld because it's not really an "exciting" game so to speak, you know?

But the bigger graphics would certainly be kind of nice. :)

if the pattern stays the same it will. ACNL is basically nothing but a slightly updated ACWW but with the good stuff(actually having to earn photos, hobby system, locking neighbors in, and a way to preserve turnips) taking out

While I was playing the Mario Kart 8 DLC, I was actually thinking exactly this *_* I kept replaying the course just imagining what it would be like if it were an actual AC title instead of Mario Kart........

But yeah I think it's a bit late to release one on the Wii U now, they'll probably wait until the new system. Hopefully with better graphics and upgraded game mechanics and such.

they wouldn't waste money on releasing the next title on a console that has done crap sales worldwide, they would be better off waiting until the next gen console

Aya Kyogoku said on a E3 interview the focus for the next Animal Crossing is going to be "Innovation" instead of just making New Leaf HD. so there's why the next AC might take a while longer, and I believe it will be way worth the wait, no matter what console it is for.
