Do you think them emphasising "island" is a bit of a concern?

I've just noticed from the trailers and what we know so far about the game is that Nintendo really seems to be pushing the whole "island life" thing. Especially calling what we know as villagers...now being islanders.

I'm sure this game will be great, but I'm just wondering whether the island theme will play out through the entirety of the game. "No, this isn't your town, it's a village instead." Reese and Cyrus wearing Lei's constantly, etc.

It's not a huge drawback but I want to be able to build a town, not a village if you know what I mean. The Animal Crossing games have always been set on an island if you think about it. Starting out with a village and then expanding to a town is what everyone wants, but I'm just not too sure if that's going to happen the way I want it to. Sure, we've seen houses...but, that's about it from what I know.

I don't want to know too much about the game, but I want to know what it's actually capable of if that makes sense.

I don’t think so. I’m sure there will still be shops and you can build up your island just like the previous towns.

Pretty sure that you can still build up a typical town with shops, PWPs etc. like you could in the previous titles. They just calling it island and villagers islanders now because New Horizons has this whole "desert island" theme. After all, the goal in this game seems to bring life into this desert island Nook presenting you and this is only possible if you have houses, buildings, shops and so on around you. So basically, you gonna build a town on this island actually.
