The question is in the title!

As the game?s release is getting closer, I am starting to think about how I want my island to look. There is a video from Mayor Mori that is already a couple of months old and it shows the different map styles we can expect.

Basically, you can have a river that splits after the second waterfall (creating a small separate island on the bottom of your map), but the space on the sides of the river arms seems to be very limited and the river itself takes a lot of space as well.

And then it seems like you can also have maps with a one-arm river (I don?t know if that?s the correct phrase lol?). That river style will divide the map into two parts, takes a lot less space, but is also a little less exciting if you ask me?

So what kind of map are you going for? Or will you just keep the map that you get when first starting the game?

I like my river making an enclosed part, so I can put my cafe inside it hehe but I think Chip will be able to build dams and we'll be able to customise our rivers this time (^O^☆♪

I don't want three sections. It's too cramped.

I like wide open spaces.

Just a river that divides the island into two.

I would love a split river! I only want it because it is new, and it looks fun to work with! I also hope that their are more than 3 bridges allowed, though...

i would like one long snaking river that sort of cuts my island into two parts, but i also love having towns with multiple waterfalls. so i'm conflicted.

I would like a split river. I wanted it before it was even revealed in New Horizons, as it was one of my favorite parts of City Folk.

I love interesting river shapes, so I would like a split river just because it's new and fun.

Having never had one before, I'd really like to try out a split river. I like when areas are segmented for me to more easily design; the wide open space is a bit shapeless to me.

That said, I'd really like less ponds this time -- or at least, for us to be able to choose where they're constructed.

So I've been looking at my map and I'd like a split river so there's a tiny island to put my caf? inside or something inside of it...
I'm really interested as to what maps we'll see and if we just alter the course of the river by using an NPC? Maybe if it's not Chip, it's Leif... ✧︎*。( ?∩︎•͈ω•͈∩︎` )✧︎*。

I used to really want a forked river when playing WW because of the little island you get, but I kinda grew accustomed to a single river, especially since I really love my NL town, had the same town since release. I’ll just have to see what NH has to offer, maybe I’ll fall in love with a forked river this time around.

I'd like a split river but not like the one from the gameplay videos. Just a small area.

I agree with Nooblord, I used to love the way some of the split rivers looked in ACCF and WW.
But having only seen one map of it in NH, I'm not a fan. The "Y" shape of it looks too symmetrical, so it really depends on how random it is, and if it's not, I think I'll go for the single river instead.

That being said, there was a Y shaped version of the split river in ACWW amongst many other cool split river formations, so I'll just wait and see what different layouts you can get.
