most of my points have already been stated in this thread. having no internet would be my worst nightmare and the rules that Amish women and kids have to follow is a big no from me. so yeah, I don't wish I was Amish.

No, I wouldn’t want to be Amish. How they live is interesting, but it just isn’t for me.

you should check out r/amish. I'm sure it's exactly what you're looking for!

I clicked on the link expecting a normal reddit thread and quickly became very confused: refreshing my page, logging in and out, closing and reopening my browser...

I've now understood, and feel incredibly stupid and also bamboozled.

Honestly, no. Not just because I like modern technology, but there’s also a lot of child abuse going unreported. I know it’s not all Amish communities, but it is a problem the Amish community as a whole faces & many Amish have spoken out about it. I’m also not very religious, and basing my entire life on a strict religion is not my cup of tea.

Usually i would say no, but.... sometimes... once in a while... you get a craving for a loaf of potato bread... and then its hard not to kinda wish you were Amish on those occasions, coz they have the best potato bread on earth

This reminds me of a tumblr post:

If I would be Amish, I could never play Animal Crossing again and that would be the worst thing ever...

Okay, seriously, I just can't live the same way as these people live. It's nothing for me.

Nope, never will be. Eventually, technology will evolve overtime to the point where people will have to use them. Take cars over horse carriages for example. But I can understand why some won't use it because of their skepticism in certain technology.

What kind of question is this? Of course, I want to be Amish. Have you seen those outfits? They are sexy af and get the old love machine working. I mean, look at this.

Like, omg. That guy is a solid 3/10, right in my league.

I would not be Amish cuz that's not my culture and it seems as nutty as nvm i dont want to offend some ppl .

Sometimes I like the idea, straying away from the stresses of modern society/technology. But it would have more cons than pros; I'd miss that stuff too much in the end. Games, YouTube, Netflix, music, I need it lol. Plus, my work involves a tablet and PC, and I'd love to stick to it for a while.

I'd love to be as productive as the amish, or to be part of a productive community. Not a fan of the whole religious side of things.

It's a hard no from me. Being against technology so much that you can't use a light bulb or flush toilet is rather extreme to say the least. Not only the technology complications, but I'd rather stay away from genetic disorders from inbreeding. It's just so strange and creepy to me. So yeah, it's a no from me.

I think it would be an interesting experience but I'm going to have to say no, plus I'm not a religious person at all.

No. Modern society sucks at times, sure, but ehhhh.... I don't want to give up technology or modern things. I also really don't like the idea of doing all of the manual labor they do. I get irritated enough mowing my lawn and keeping the weeds somewhat at bay. I have a tiny home garden too. But I can't see myself getting up at the crack of dawn to milk cows, feed chickens, tend the farm, etc every day.

Not really. I mean sure we need a break from tech stuff but if it takes that we're just damn sick already.
