Just wondering because I ****ing love asmr

for those of you who are not informed on what asmr is

"Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, precipitating relaxation. It has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia."

It's pretty much feeling better or getting like a tingly sensation or sleepy from certain sounds

you can find tons of asmr trigger videos on youtube

my favorite has to be pen writing and tapping rn also hair asmrs are niceeeeee

well is their anybody else here who listens to asmr?

I tried them when I was first learning to astral project, but they did the opposite of what I wanted them to do. They just kept me awake.

Awww I feel bad because they're so relaxing to me
I know a lot of people are relaxed by it but it makes me insanely uncomfortable
Were you just listening to whispering/roleplay asmr's? Because I can see how that could make you feel uncomfortable

I have tried listening to some ASMR videos in the past, but they never did much of anything for me. I've never experienced the tingling sensation, relaxation, or sleepiness people have reported.

no I don't like any static sounds or sounds being repeated for too long either, they either make me anxious or trigger my misophonia depending on what it is

I've only heard a few but they all made me feel weird. For some reason like 80% of my Instagram explore feed is always people playing with putty, and the sound of it squishing kind of creeps me out. The only other type I've heard are people whispering and those are even worse for me.

However I actually really like some of the 'Peaceful Cuisine' videos, which are basically recipe tutorials with no sound - not really ASMR but around the same idea. I think it's because they're actually doing something worthwhile and not just repeating noises under a microphone...

I think 'Peaceful Cuisine' videos could be counted as an asmr if it gives you the same affect

I'm pretty probably but I just can't stand this and most of the attempts people make it to be relevant on YT. It's INSANE.

I quite like some asmr, like when i use to not be able to sleep I'd download a sleep app and listen to rain sounds or something like that. This one app had like a washing machine hum and it was really relaxing! Although I haven't listened to much recently, I'm finding it easier to sleep bc I'm so tired all the time now lol.

oooooo do you know what the apps are called by chance?

I don't know why, but watching/listening to the videos made by YouTube channels dedicated to ASMR never make me feel relaxed even though I've experienced the tingling feeling when listening to certain sounds. My least favorite type of ASMR videos are the role-play ones. I've also stumbled upon a few videos that made me really uncomfortable like this and this other one that's probably too inappropriate to post.

I'm pretty sure those aren't actual farts though but still weird

My favorite "asmr" type videos are unboxing re-ment videos, it's just ripping of boxes and crinkling of plastic and sometimes tapping or scratching the surface of the toys and I love it a lot, I get sad when people talk or play music for the unboxing videos. =[ I just wanna hear the packages.

i love certain asmr videos but i never have gotten the 'tingle' that people talk about (which i'm jealous of) i merely get extreme satisfaction out of them and i think one time i actually got goosebumps?? what a miracle. but seriously, i can't get enough out of slime videos. those are my favorites, and something else that i really like for some reason is when people play with velcro.

i think the only asmr i can't stand is eating asmr videos. they drive me ****ing nuts.
