Hi all,

So, I feel like when I first joined BTF, most things were sold in IGB, and basically everyone was selling all their TBT and everything... now it feels like the forums are flooded with shops or whatever that only accept TBT? I also think the conversion rate sucks, because people can sell hybrids or orderables or whatever for 1-2 TBT each, which is 200,000-400,000 IGB, which I think is kind of ridiculous.

When did this happen? When did IGB get such a massive reduction in value? And why do people prefer TBT?

I feel the same way, back when I first joined I didn't even know what to do with my TBT, everyone traded in IGB. I just wonder how they've calculated this conversion rate? Like, who made up this conversion to be the real deal?

I agree the current conversation rate is kinda sucky. But then again its not that hard to get IGB, considering you can just hop on the boat to the island ,stay there 30 minutes catching all the good bugs/fish, come back and voila. Also, I'm sure the value in bells has decreased due to inflation hacking causes. More and more people are able to get their hands on tons of bells for cheap. Also, tbt can buy you more things such as in the villager trading plaza, collectibles on the site (I'm obsessed with them right now), or even currency for other sites such as gaia.

The conversion rates are pretty silly, but it also probably has to do with the fact that by this point, most people can't even use IGB anymore because they've already upgraded their houses, maxed out their shops, etc... it just has no value to a lot of people. TBT, on the other hand, can be used for more than just in-game things, so people want it more.

I feel that way as well !! I have a lot of IGB to offer but everyone really just wants TBT, I think gameFAQS is a better place for people who don't want to go through the TBT system, people are very nice there it's just that the responses can be slow sometimes !![

I think it's cause nowadays most people here have been playing for some time and already have lots of IGB, also they can easily be earned. Plus, people also hack/powersaves for IGB.

I also have noticed this and was wondering why it seems to all changed to being TBT. I can see where its easier to do instead of dropping a bunch of bells though. But sometimes I wish I could buy stuff with my IGB instead of TBT since I have so much IGBs.

I've said this before but it has become absurd.

100 TBT used to be 100,000 IGB, which was reasonable. You could actually make 100,000 IGB at reasonably equivalent effort required to get 100 TBT.

Now it is 100 TBT for 20,000,000 IGB. Even with turnip market at nearly maximum price you don't just get 20mil IGB that easily. That would take hours, and hours, and hours of beetle farming on the island.

I think what has happened is a combination of the following:

-less casual players these days because NL hype has died down, leaving more hardcore players with significant investments of IGB. Thus there is no competition to keep the economy in check due to less providers of IGB.

-a slowly rising trend of currency conversion because...well, we always want more

-absence of a real TBT community besides trading game items or art, which has failed to provide a stable economy.

I personally prefer IGB over TBT. The only reason I want TBT is to make the goal of making a group which is super duper priced to 42,000 TBT

I agree the exchange rate is ridiculous. Sure, it's a little easier to earn IGB, but not so easy that 200,000 should only equal 1 TBT. I have about 50 million in the mayor of Canaan's bank account, but that took work. Lots and lots of it. The 20 million in the mayor of Diamond's bank account is from spending my precious TBT for it.

Hello All, I have been playing animal crossings for a long time, but I just got new leaf a few months ago so I'm still trying to learn all the tricks with it. found this forum yesterday, and I just stumbled upon this post. I know I totally sound like a newbie for asking this but, what are you guys referring to when you say IGB and TBT?

IGB = In Game Bells = The currency you actually make in the video game.
TBT = Online currency for this site.
