We have three switches in our house and all three switch chargers will occasionally just stop charging. Two started working again when we unplugged and replugged in but the other didn't. Anyone else have issues? Trying to figure out if I should try to buy new ones

buy a new one. I have one switch and 1 charger and it stopped working when only it was on the dock but l think l know why it did that once to save itself from overheating just how the 3ds would stop charging so it doesn't overcharge. It was sorta hot in the house that day and its been on since 11 am to 9 pm...ik l'm crazy and l noticed it when it started to get hotter then it stopped charging because the switch was getting hot. But if that's not the reason for you then l would buy a new one, l don't think they're that expensive but its better off doing that. My charger is 4 years old and it still works. Just make sure you're not plugging the chargers in a powerful outlet that the switch charger can't support because its too strong. My brother did that once because it wasn't just an outlet and it broke his 3ds charger(happened 3 times, 3rd time he used my)

I have the standard dock and a separate wall charger that I bought to play in bed. Both are fine. I do worry about the internal battery of the Switch dying as time goes on...but, that's another issue. They really should have made it easier to replace the battery, IMO. People are still going to want to play Switch 20/30 years from now...just as they continue to play the Gameboy systems. They really went to great lengths to make that a challenge. I think about that a lot.

I haven't had that problem but I would have to agree with Mr_Persona and recommend that you just buy a new one.

I actually regularly use my MacBook Pro laptop charger to charge my switch. Kind of weird, but since I usually play in hand held mode rather than docked, the MacBook charger is longer than the standard switch charger my console came with so its more convenient for me to use the Mac charger while playing. I do use the standard switch charger when I play docked and have not had any issues, but like I said I don't play it docked very often.

See, I thought about buying a new one - but all three of our chargers have had issues. One crapped out completely, the other two will occasionally not charge unless I unplug and plug it back in, so I'm hesitant to buy a new one because I've had this issue with three now >.<

Are they licensed Nintendo ones or generic?
If they're licensed then maybe you would have luck contacting Nintendo customer support about it.

This thread is interesting as I didn't realize that people had issues with the Switch chargers. The only Switch hardware complaints I see are about Joycon drift.

My Switch is now a bit over a year old and I haven't had any issues, but I also have never unplugged the actual charger from the wall yet because I mostly play docked. When I do play handheld, I just put it back on the dock to charge it. Whenever this pandemic ends and I can actually feel like I can travel again, if I take the Switch with me obviously I won't bother taking the dock, so I'd have to deal with this if it happens.

They're licensed Nintendo ones. We have three switches in our household (I own two, my mom has one) and the three chargers all came with the switches themselves

Honestly, I never had issues with the joycons. The one issue I had, I fixed easily. No drift though.

We rarely use the dock.

Could it be an issue with the actual port and not the charger? Something could be wrong with the port. I’ve had issues with the charging port on some of my Nintendo handhelds. I don’t know if it was me being careless because I was young, but it was very common for me. It happened a lot and the system would only charge in certain positions, like I’d have to lean it up against something for it to charge.
