i dont think you have to...i think you can actually do it just by editing brush settings. which i dont know how to set them, so i was mostly asking for people's good painting brush settings.
yeah i do mess with the hue/saturation filters but i was actually wondering for things like, what color do you make a line if its the line of a white piece of clothing that's touching tan skin?

when i shaded the skin it was a lot darker (i deleted my shading), but the outfit was just white with blue in some parts (thats how the design is) and i tried orange/yellow for the outfit's lines that touched the skin, tried grey, and i tried blue, and tried different combinations, but still couldnt get it to look right. idk if that makes sense. i just wanna know what to do in situations like that.

i guess what im saying is when i tried coloring the lines the combination of colors looked really dull no matter what i tried

i dont know if thats omsething that just cant be helped because of the characters color scheme? the colors wouldnt really go well together at all normally imo
(its my character from a game for something & it looks good in the game but as a flat drawing i think its kinda weird)
