I am running windows 7 and this video explains why I cant run the new dev build without windows 10Most importantly, make sure you're on the latest release or development build (Currently 2409) Secondly try opening your graphics settings and trying the different backends as some GPU's might not like one or another. I also like to enable "Compile shaders before starting". While testing make sure not to have custom textures enabled (under advanced) and that you're running at native resolution (under enhancements) Once you have your settings figured out you can increase the resolution and enable custom textures to see how well your computer handles it. Both resolution and custom textures can be enabled and disabled during gameplay so you don't have to reset every time.
If this doesn't help, send your system specs (RAM, CPU, GPU, model) so we know what you have.
your knocking on a sealed shut door of upgrading my OS, Linux just might be the way I go, Either way, windows 10 will be the new choice cause its compatible with everything, I dotn want 11 cause microsoft is forcing stuff on its users like 8 did, and no matter what, my windows 7 cd shall be cherished because it was the last windows to be transparent and its similar to xp, one of the best. Am I gona have like 3 partitions -_-' linux, windows 10, windows 7With specs like that your computer shouldn't have any issues with Dolphin, I would try deleting Dolphin and renaming your folder (Should be in your Documents or "%appdata%\Dolphin Emulator") so when you open it again it's a fresh copy. Then you can copy over "Dolphin Emulator\Load\Textures" for the HD pack if you have it installed, "Dolphin Emulator\Wii" for Wii saves and "Dolphin Emulator\GC" for GameCube saves. I would also try looking at if anything is hogging system resources in task manager and possibly reinstalling drivers to make sure you're on the latest supported by Windows 7.
Finally, I know this'll probably be like a broken record to you since you're still using Windows 7 in 2024 but it's also completely possible that you have a virus or unsupported software causing issues. As much as I hate modern Windows, continuing to run Windows 7 puts your computer at risk while upgrading to either Windows 10, Windows 11 or Linux is completely free. There's ways to get past 11's restrictions but if you're absolutely against 10 or 11, Linux Mint is widely considered to be the most stable Linux distro and is designed to be familiar for Windows users. Either way that hardware should have some life left on it, it may just need a refresh.
Haha understandable, but I will warn you that multiple Windows partitions don't usually play very nice with each other, speaking from experience of having Vista, 8 Tech Preview and Ubuntu installed together back in the day, so maybe invest in a second drive? Honestly with your specs I wouldn't be surprised if you still had a spinning drive so buying a 1TB SSD would cost probably ~$60 USD and increase overall performance from startup to games by quite a lot while still allowing Windows 7 to be kept on it's own drive. That would also give you a fresh Windows install so nothing broken gets transferred over while also allowing you to pick and choose what you want to move. I figure that I'd mention that Windows 10 and 11 are pretty similar and if you plan on keeping it for more than a couple years than Windows 10's end of life is coming up in just over a year. I'm on 11 and use StartAllBack to give me a Windows 7 start menu, taskbar and explorer along with a couple system edits to disable telemetry and such. Annoying but not that hard, plus I don't have to worry about end of life anytime soon.your knocking on a sealed shut door of upgrading my OS, Linux just might be the way I go, Either way, windows 10 will be the new choice cause its compatible with everything, I dotn want 11 cause microsoft is forcing stuff on its users like 8 did, and no matter what, my windows 7 cd shall be cherished because it was the last windows to be transparent and its similar to xp, one of the best. It's not so much that the partitions conflict, it's just that Windows itself doesn't like having more than one copies installed on a computer. If you do try it just make sure that you install Linux last so that you're using Linux's bootloader (GRUB). Honestly though moving to Linux (Especially a big distro like Linux Mint or Ubuntu) is really easy, having an app store is great and in a lot of computers performance is better than in Windows, but it's not without issues. You will have to look things up and you will need to learn some things. All and all though if you like tinkering Linux is just great, a common joke within the community is that the biggest pro and con is the same: "You can do literally anything."HAH! yep! How would the partitions conflict
Windows 10 made to look like 7 sounds nice, although its mainly the invasive corporate stuff that I dont wana have.
Ive worried about transferring all my stuff but Im willing to bet its all mostly minor clutter
maybe its time I make the linux move. idk man
I dont want windows 11, I was bothered so much by windows 8 that I refused to ever get it, windows 10 is worse and windows 11 is a mockery. I do recognize you arent microsoft so sorry for being so forwardly offputtingI wanted to share this script if you want to use Windows 11. It get's rid of a lot of the extra crap lol
