• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

Does each switch account get its own save file?

well, it is more like 299.99 usd + tax, still pretty expensive (the price of 4-5 new condition switch games)

It's what I said. $400 AUD.

Plus the cost of the game, another $99 AUD.

That's at EB Games in Australia where I am.

Edit. I know it's the reason, but I'm sick of hearing the hacking excuse as a reason for nintendo not allowing alternate backup options.

Not everyone hacks. I haven't owned an AR since the gameboy!

You do not have to buy two copies of the game if you buy a physical cartridge. Even if you buy digital you won't have to, although you will be subject to routine online check-ins on the non-primary console with digital copies of the game.

How do you have multiple islands then?
You would need another console. If you can only have one save file.

The switch is so freaking STUPID.

You need multiple Switches to have multiple islands, but you only need one copy of the game if you own a physical copy, unless you need to play both islands simultaneously. If you buy the game digitally, you still only need one license, but as I stated, you will routinely have to check in and prove the authenticity of your game copy if you are playing it on the non-primary console for your account.

I believe the routine check-in on the non-primary console is only enforced if your console spends a significant amount of time without an available WiFi network, though.

I think having to buy multiple consoles is not only more expensive than buying multiple copies of the game, it's insane is what it is. o_O

it’s annoying, but it’s also how nintendo planned it lol. they intended for us to only have one island too, and there’s gonna be a lot of stuff to do on this island so i think it’s fine that we only have one save. if, for some reason, you are desperate to get another island for this game, you can get a nintendo switch lite for as little as $180 usd and then another $60 for the game, unless you bought it used which would save money too. i think we just have to deal with it tho :-(

Oh, no, lol, I only want one island. I wouldn't have the time for more. I'll put everything in to the one I start with, which brings me to my real concern, and that is the game only saves to the console.

Consoles break, and not from neglect, it's just life.

If I lost my saved game after putting my heart and soul in to it, I wouldn't have it in me to start over.

We shouldn't have this stress, and it is a big deal no matter what some people say. That it's unimportant, just start again etc. Only to have it happen again. :(

Nintendo needs to make games save to the cart like the 3ds. As for hacking, I don't do that. I don't have the means.

Hopefully, though I'm not interested in cloud saving. It costs money, and I shouldn't have to pay to save my offline game, online, when they could easily make games save the good old fashioned, sensible way. To the game cart.

It seems absurd to pay a service to store my game that I only play offline, apart from trading. It really is kinda nuts.

I'm at home, playing my offline game, and have to use my data to log in to a paid service to save my game. o_O

Tis truly nuts.
