Does Raymond deserve to dethrone Marshal?

i know this is silly but a villager overtaking marshal is kind of a big deal. he's been #1 on tier lists since his debut. WHO is doing it like him?

and now considering there's no amiibo for the new villagers yet, i've been noticing the demand for raymond is HIGH.

personally i think he's slightly overrated. where's the love for prince SHERB????

I honestly think, from what I've seen anyway, that Raymond is quite a bit more popular than Marshal (on twitter and tumblr) ! Though that might just be because he's a cat.

Raymond definitely has the edge because he’s new, but that aside, I also think he looks more interesting. Honestly, it’s almost like he could be an NPC—there’s just a lot of personality in his design.

I mean, the fact that he's new contributes a lot to it. I feel like as of right now people are louder about Raymond because there's no card for him (and really want him), and people who love Marshal probably already had his card, or buy when it comes up. I believe they're still on par.

i've been involved in villager trading/popularity/etc since the beginning of new leaf and the thought of someone overtaking marshal in popularity is WACK. that being said, i never understood the hype with marshal, but i definitely do with raymond. he just looks more interesting, idk why, and i love his heterochromia. i'm also a big fan of the cats so...biased, lol.

I love Marshal a lot but I'm also a sucker for cat villagers. I haven't interacted with Raymond yet so I'm not sure if I like him but we'll see.

Yeah absolutely. Marshal is old news, and let's be honest, Marshal may be a handsome and dashing squirrel man... but Raymond is a NERD CAT with HETEROCHROMIA! Literally, what more can you ask for?

Raymond is far more popular in my eyes, but I've never understood the appeal of Marshal. He's just a white squirrel.

I don’t get the appeal to each villager, but I feel that whatever Raymond did to Marshal is exactly what Baby Yoda did to the porgs. Besides, the New Leaf era is over, so it’s Raymond’s turn to take control.

But in my personal opinion, I prefer Marshal over Raymond, but that’s because I like squirrel villagers over cat villagers.
