Or does it drop according to your timezone?

I have my switch set to Australia's time zone even though I'm not from there because they apparently get some updates earlier because they're many hours ahead of the rest of the world.

So once it's the 5th of Nov in Australia, and still the 4th around the world, will they still get the update or does everything run in Japan's time?

Yes, AC updates always come out the same time worldwide. The updates typically come out 10am JST the day that the update is supposed to be released, so that'll be 10am JST on November 5th. That means if you're in the US, you will see it on the evening of November 4th. You can Google the timezone conversions to figure it out based on your timezone. I'm in CST, so that would be 8pm November 4th for me.

I believe all past updates have dropped at 10am Japan Time.

They have always dropped at I think 6pm for me on the West Coast. Maybe 7pm. But always the evening before the listed date.

If the update drops Nov 5 at 10AM JST (Japan), it'll release on Nov 4 at 9PM EST or 6PM PST for you folks on the west coast. However, the DLC will release 12AM (Midnight) on Nov 5 your time.

Does this mean the DLC drops before the 2.0 update for EU?

not like it matters for me since I'll be working

And that is the reason I'm not sure about the DLC timing myself. If it literally rolls out midnight on November 5th, then it will come out before the update in some places. But I have the feeling this DLC will require the 2.0 update to function because the update probably has assets for the DLC in it, such as expecting the existence of the new furniture and villagers.

They will either have to roll out the DLC simultaneous with the update, or release the DLC after whenever the respective timezones have gotten the update.

Its very possible they decide to release the DLC at the same time as the update this time around for convenience.

I swear whenever a new update comes out it goes by the Japanese time zone so I just look at that I still think it comes out on the 5th for us Australians it just wont be in the morning when we wake up.

Yeah it's mostly likely going to release at the same time

All the past updates have dropped on 10AM JST (Japan Standard Time). So, assuming my time zone conversion is correct...

London - 2AM, Nov 5
Sydney - 12PM, Nov 5
Pacific Time - 6PM, Nov 4
Eastern Time - 9PM, Nov 4

It drops the same time. It doesn’t matter what timezone you put yourself in. It’s the same time for everyone.

Oh yeah, IIRC, even when the update comes out early for us, most (If not all bc of the major content) of the new stuff probably won't even be out until the new day which is at 5am in real time (If I recall this correctly, I may be wrong on that one)

Oh, it absolutely will have to due to how the DLC integrates itself with the game. There's no way to access the DLC from v1.11 with how it's been presented to us.

I feel like it's safe to assume the update will drop at the same time once again (10 AM Japan time, 9 PM ET, 6 PM PT, etc., as has been noted by several people already) due to the game's online connectivity, since otherwise tons of people would not be able to go online for several hours due to not having v2.0 and that wouldn't be great! I have wondered when the DLC will drop myself, but it does make more sense to just drop it at the same time as v2.0 and not have it restricted to drop at 12 AM local time.

Since I live like in Georgia USA I guess its going to drop around 9 PM EST that would be in November 4th, since I think Japan tends to get it much earlier than everyone else.

japan gets it at the same time as everyone else; the release is based on Japan time but the same time as everyone else happens to be 10 am the next day from when we get it in the US. So you could argue Japan gets the update later, since it will be the 5th there and the 4th here. (But it will not actually be later - it’s the same time)

Most update and release dates are a day earlier in the US, so it'd most likely be released on the 4th at 9 PM PST. NOA is in Washington so most everything in America goes by PST when it comes to their release times.

What I also wanted to know is if we'll be able to purchase the dlc a couple days before it's release (so we can pre-load it) or not.

Not sure how it'll be if you get it with NSO but if you're purchasing it separately you can pre-order it on the 29th! 😊
