So ever since I started sculpting I've been really interested in miniatures and making super small things, so it's only natural that my interests have stemmed into wanted to build and furnish my very own dollhouse.

Right now I am just in the planning stages and drafting but I am planning on making a 1:12 or 1:6(I'm still debating) scale witchy dollhouse. I plan to make all of the decor and furniture and the actual house itself using wood, metal, fabric, and clay and I am already really excited.

I've been watching a lot of videos and looking at ideas and stuff and it' something that I've wanted to do for quite a while because in games decorating and building have always been my favorite part, like in Sims and more recently all the decorating in Happy Home Designer. First I was planning on spending a ton of money to get an already planned kit and making a house of someone else's design, but I decided now I am going to do it myself instead so it will all be 100% unique.

This isn't something that is going to happen overnight and will probably in reality take me a couple years to complete but I just wanted to know if anybody else here is interested in miniatures or dollhouses and the like so we can talk about it and I can share my experiences as they happen here.

What if I built the dollhouse and then made a scale model of the dollhouse to put in the dollhouse? DOLLHOUSE INCEPTION.

I was thinking it would be neat, because it's gunna be all old and decrepit and witchy and haunted looking, so I could make the dollhouse and make it as the house had looked before, like when the witch who lived there was young. I don't know, maybe I'm over thinking this...

I'm very interested in making lil polymer clay food charms because they're so interesting and cute and aahhhh
I burned my first attempt at clay a few weeks ago though hahaha

That's where I first started making little ice cream bowls and tiny cupcakes and the like. I love how versatile polymer clay is too. And yeah, it's super easy to burn, especially with the lighter color clays... you definitely got to follow the directions really carefully.

Aaaa, I wish I could make cute lil polymer clay charms, but I only have ceramic clay from my school to work with, and it is totally not meant for making itty bitty delicate charms, ahaha, smaller bits of ceramic clay dry out like crazy!

Started on a pantry/shelf thing out of polyclay but my pasta machine's arm broke off so I am going to need to get a new one. =[ I literally shoved a butter knife in the socket and got rub burn on my hands making it... so I mean I will probably just buy a new pasta machine since they don't sell the arms, why don't they sell the arms? ALSO, gunna post some pictures of my plans I've drawn out and maybe a picture of my tiny tarot desk I made this week as well. =]

So I am working on trying to figure out how I am going to lay out each room so I can design the furniture and decorations for the house piece by piece so I made a little model of the house's general shape, and the floor plan for each room.

I numbered the furniture I am going to put in each and they are as follows:
1 Book shelf
2 Ingredient Shelf
3 Potion Table
4 Cabinet for Specimens/Potions
5 Trunk
6 Old Crib
7 Assorted boxes
8 Miniature Dollhouse
--
9 Wardrobe
10 King Bed
11 Bedside tables
12 Dresser
--
13 Bathtub
14 Toilet
15 Sink/Cabinet
--
16 Pantry
17 Old Stove
18 Cabinets
19 Old Sink
20 Cabinets
21 Table with leaf and Chairs
--
22 Fireplace to ceiling
23 Comfy Chair
24 Medium Reading table/Desk
25 Stool
26 Coffee Table
27 Rocking Chair
28 Side table
29 Fainting Couch

The question marks are where I feel there is too much empty space and needs more furniture or something to put in the open space, if anybody has any ideas that would be wonderful. This is supposed to be a very old house with all antique stuff and no technology besides lighting, and even then I am going to have candles and stuff too.

this is so tedious. I wish I could do something like this, lol.
sounds really cool

It's quite fun, especially considering I have 10 hours a night to work on planning it at work. XD I'm also slowly accumulating supplies for it and me and my family are going to work on the construction together!

AND there are about 20 or so sheets of graph paper covered in this stuff, I just simplified it and make a quick mock up on paint for it.

I just had a REVELATION! So I was drawing out some fixings for my bathroom and it came to be I can use old body jewelry as towel racks and towel hoops, I was drawing one of those rings that you put hand towels on by the sink and i was like "looks just like an old lip ring" and then I looked at the towel bar i drew and it's totally an industrial bar! So I think I could just glue those to wall mounts in the tiny bathroom and nobody would be the wiser XD

Alright, so I have a few pieces of furniture in the works right now, I don't know why but I've started with the kitchen stuff.

Firstly I made this little pantry for the kitchen.

I made it out of polymer clay and sanded and glued it all together then painted it white. I still need to do another coat of paint on it then add some aging to it and add the hinged for the doors.

I also started on this cabinet/counter for the kitchen as well.

I made it out of balsa and the doors and drawers open and close, I am going to re-stain it a darker color because I don't really like the current color. I am also going to make a fake granite counter for the top of it out of polymer clay and fix it to the top.

I still have a lot of furniture to go but I just got a kit of tools and supplies to work on stuff so I'll try to keep this updated with what I am working on. =]

I also hope to be able to go into town and get some nice big pieces of wood so I can start actually putting the walls together and stuff and get the house itself put together!

Thanks, it definitely is super fun. I've always loved making small things and so making a dollhouse just came natural. I hope to work on a few more pieces on my days off.

Those are turning out really nice! My mother used to have a giant miniature collection, and as a child I was always frustrated that I couldn't play with it lol.. I'll admit tho I did sneak a couple of times. Everything was so intricate and delicate, I was mesmerized. When I got older she bought me a few miniature pieces of furniture too but I used most of it for paying with my toys. Now that I'm adult I still really appreciate small things like these, especially tiny food!

Thanks so much. I only ever had cheap plastic Barbie and Bratz furniture and the little Fisher Price dollhouse, but I always saw like the big dollhouses with the wooden furniture and all the little intricate things and I always wanted to play with them

Ohhh they are great! I loveee miniatures so much, too bad I could never afford to collect them (currency exchange sucks) I love the Sylvanian families collection but they are sooo expensive and definitely Re-ment miniatures from Japan. Kitchen miniatures are always the best and yours are looking great! Can't wait to see more.

Yeah a lot of miniatures are pretty expensive for something so small, that's why I figure I should just make them myself, and hey, if I get good enough at it I can sell my own miniatures!

I printed out some envelope templates so I can make old letters and stuff, and I also printed out some creepy old family photos in black and white on some yellow paper to make them look older and I'm gunna make some frames from wood for them. I think I am going to age the letters with tea or coffee to get a nice stain on them but I don't know if I should attempt to actually write things on the letters and envelopes or just scribble to make it kind of look like writing.

If I do write addresses what should the address be? I think it should be something vaguely spooky since it's going to be a witchy type house. Any ideas?

Those pieces you made look amazing!

That would be cool if you could write actual things on the letters, but won't they be too small for that?

They're less than an inch long, the pieces of paper, but I could use one of my ultra fine pens to write stuff on them but it wont be as small as it would be if someone actually proportionally wrote it... like here... this is how small I'd be able to make it.

Me and my friends used to write tiny notes to each other in school, writing as small as possible.
