You can ask for one of them plus bells, or ask for lots of bells to get them both. You just need to be crafty. Also, get a tumblr if you don't have one and follow acnladopt. They give away popular villagers somewhat frequently. I've seen Stitches and Julian be given away for free like 3-4 times each.
