Before you think I'm crazy! Let me ask you a question... A question that has never been asked before or maybe it has... ( ⸝⸝◦︎ω◦︎⸝⸝ )

What if you had that mansion life, everyone's coming to your tea parties, sleepovers and late night jazz house parties but there's something missing...
The simple tent life.

What if you don't want to live in a house anymore... What if you prefer to be that one villager who roams freely around the island pitching their tent up by the ocean and rivers at their hearts content?
I'm not saying you might not be able to do this when you have a house, but who knows? Since the tent looks like an object, we can probably keep it to carry on camping (?ิW?ิ )

There have never been any possibilities or opportunities to downgrade your home. Have you ever upgraded or expanded and thought ooops! Wish I hadn't've done that! because I know I have...

The other reason why I bring this up is because, we have to upgrade and expand to unlock items and NPCs through progress. So, I hope to unlock and then downgrade!

Anyone else think this would be handy? (∩︎*?ω`*∩︎)は~い♪︎

I really love camping, but I love decorating my in-game house too.

I'd like my mansion, AND the option the have a tent too. For nights on the beach. :)

I just like have a house that has an upstairs and a downstairs and that been expanded twice I think?
But if I had to upgrade to unlock things, I'd like to downgrade for aesthetic purposes.
I don't think I could just play with a tent either haha I love the comforts of a small and cosy home! ⸜( ? ꒳ ` )⸝♡︎

Can't wait to see what kind of mansion you'll have in NH "(⌯︎?̴̶̷̀ω?̴̶̷́)✧︎

It will be awesome either way now we can put furniture outside. ^_^

I've definitely played characters in the past where I regretted their house upgrade and wished to degrade! It's a nice idea, but I doubt it will happen and I'm ok with it not being a feature (although I feel like I keep saying this but then I'm proven wrong lol). The whole idea of Animal Crossing (especially new horizons) is building it from the bottom up. I don't think they'd give us an option to downgrade after that progression. Plus it's never been a big issue that was brought up by fans, such as the plot resetting chore that was later fixed. So something like this I feel like we'll continue to see the tradition of "pay off your loan and upgrade your house" without options of degrading. The most I see happening is having a lot more different types of exterior upgrades styles, possibly even in tent and smaller house forms. Maybe once you get into bigger house formats you could even change the exterior into a large looking tent like a yurt? That would be nice!

We can knock out walls in our RL houses to expand and whatnot.
It should be simple to remove a room you've built.

I hope they do have that option.

I think it'd be cool if you have your house AND a tent! Like how people can set up tents in their backyard.
Idk if PWPs will come back but that seems like a good use of the feature.

It'd be really neat to have a tent and a house on one villager.

The good thing about ACNH is, even if they don't allow one villager to have both, it's going to be easier than ever to just pop out a joycon, load your alt villager while you're playing with your main one, and have the best of both worlds that way.

Oh, yeah!
Good thinking! :)

CF had this with tom nooks store, it wouldn't be that hard to implement at all :)

Oh I just read about this! That’s kind of interesting but a strange feature. I could see why people would want to downgrade their house but not a shop (unless it was for specific features like closing time). It gives me more hope for the possibility of home downgrades though

You've got me thinking about any house customisation now, I wonder how they've even stepped up upgrading ✧︎◝︎(*?꒳`*)◜︎✧︎˖

That's awesome!
If CF had it, we should be able to. :)

Progress!

That's true but it's also opened the door to customisation beyond what you were capable of in previous titles. They want you to explore all areas of customisation without feeling stifled (ू′o‵ ू)*✲゚︎♡︎♪︎

That would be so awesome lol a mansion tent with the yurt exterior! Having more exteriors would be so amazing!!! (⑅︎ ॣ?͈૦?͈ ॣ)꒳ᵒ꒳ᵎᵎᵎ

Setting up a tent in my garden would be beyond cool!!! Also deciding how large your garden is too ( ✧︎Д✧︎) キラーン

I haven't played LGGTC/CF in so long that I've forgotten so much ( ?థ౪థ)
This gives me so much hope though ୧꒰*?꒳`*꒱૭✧︎

Honestly, such a downgrade option would be in fact helpful. I actually had the case that I upgraded the houses of my alt characters back then because I thought I need more space for them and then when I designed those, I realized that a smaller house would have worked better. Of course I couldn't undone it and get rid off the character to start over new would have been a waste of time (and bells). Having such a feature would be really useful actually.

Ouch, I forgot that this was really a thing. Guess this just proves how long it has been since I played City Folk the last time...

I would really love if we didn?t have to fully expand the main floor.
Also , if we weren?t forced to have an attic. Maybe I don?t really want two floors.

That's why I have a big mansion and then a secondary character with a cozy little private home. It doesn't make much sense to build up the entire house and then tear it down, that's a huge waste of bells. If the whole point of the island is to build from the ground up it might be possible to just put off upgrading your house and just chillin in the tent while you upgrade everything else.

But what if you made a mistake and hate having a mansion...? Sometimes you want to change your whole look and not being able to take things down or reduce them means starting a new game. If you don't want to start a new game, downgrading would be an option and if I make bells, I earned them so I don't mind putting towards a new project others would deem wasteful \\\└︎('ω')┘︎////
