That's gorgeous! I couldn't draw that if my life depended on it!

Well I can't think of any tips other than...
Keep drawing, and keep practicing every day, and you can soon make those lovely skills you have already to make even more lovely drawings. Good luck!

OMG thank you so much!!

It's just hard to know what to draw!!

One of my recommendations would be to take a closer look at your reference image:

From here you can tell that the roof actually juts out slightly, and casts a shadow on the front of the shop c:
Otherwise, it's pretty good for starting out ^^

Thanks for the encouragement!

Okay so I tried to add some shadow... And added a little bit of the shadow between the teal and yellow because there's some shadow there too.

But how would you suggest I add the shadow like I attempted to on the left on the right? I kept them different because I quite like it without the shadow, but I know it needs it and I didn't do the best job I could have on the left. (Like I wanna say I completely failed but I also don't want to focus on the negatives haha)

I might try it again from scratch in a week or so when I get my new bamboo fine line.

Oh wait, shouldve read that more carefully xD
My advice is to train yourself to draw what you see. As artists, we tend to idealize things when we draw them from our minds or even from reference sometimes. What is actually supposed to be straight, we may draw rounded, because we feel like it should look better that way, when in reality, it hurts the accuracy of our work because it contradicts what it true in ral life. and example of this would be women's hips. Alot of people draw female hips very round and full, but there are alot of straight drops in a woman's natural shape. female-iliac-crest.jpg
If you learn to trust your references and draw them exactly as they appear, instead of tweaking them based on what feels more comfortable to you, you'll eventually (it'll definitely be a process) get so familiar with the way that things are supposed to be that you'll be able to create accurate images of stuff from nothing.

Draw things how they really are :B and don't forget that drawing from the imagination is also extremely important as an artist. I'd say develop both and apply them to each other as often as possible

and get out of your comfort zone ; - ; this is really important xD if something feels difficult or uncomfortable to do, the best way to deal with that is to practice until you're good. you'll be happy you spent so much effort when you've finally mastered it (or at least gotten pretty good at it)

i'm going through this right now with alot of stuff, including feet and hands, which i used to avoid mostly ; v ; theyre so hard

and lastly, I can't ive you any direct tips on here about your art work because i dont think id be much help, but practice coloring and shading as much as you can, because it is an extremely important part of drawing. The pencil work itself can really only go so far after all. Look up coloring tutorials and speedpaints on youtube and pay attention to the techniques they use,so that you can develop your own :B hope i helped a bit

You should collect all the posts you scatter around the forum and put it all into a single post. Your tips are really encouraging and meaningful, I'm sure people would appreciate it.

I would have to agree with that! I gave it another go and I think I improved on what I originally did. And your advice (as well as naiad's advice to concentrate on the perspectives) really really helped!
