this is prior to the "how many eggs are there" topic but can the eggs appear under patterns that u placed on the ground and for that matter can fossil and gyroids appear under patterns as well.

No I dont think they can. I dont think you can put anything on a pattern or ontop of something buried.
If yu have trouble looking for an egg look where the grass changes to mud. Those ones I found were seriously hard to see.
