So I used to absolutely love this game for the Wii. It’s a deep-sea diving game. The scenery is beautiful, the music is killer, and it’s super educational too - I learned so much about sea creatures from this game. I was just curious, has anyone else played it? I’d kill for an Endless Ocean 3, but even a switch port of the original would be nice. Also, I’d appreciate a recommendation if you’ve played it and know of something similar!

Sold.

Haven't played Endless Ocean but if you're after more deep-sea diving adventures, the first thing that comes to mind is Subnautica (PC, PS4, Xbox - pick your poison).

I’d really recommend it, you get to meet all kinds of cool creatures and learn more about them, plus you can train a dolphin buddy to swim with you 😍
Subnautica keeps showing up on my Steam as recommended for me, so I’ll have to give it a try!!

What do you think the chances are of them porting it to Switch? Swimming with dolphins I'm sooo on board with! 😍

Subnautica is on sale on Steam right now so it'd be a good opportunity to dip in. Below Zero released shortly after and also has fairly positive reviews.

I would absolutely love that, but I haven’t heard anything about it in a while. They filed a trademark for it in 2019 and everyone got excited, but haven’t heard anything since then. Thanks so much for the recommendation 😍

YESSS!! I loved this game and its sequel so much. The second one in my opinion solved a lot of issues the first one had and I loved it even more. It was the perfect game to play after coming home from school, and I even played it with some friends a bunch, just taking dives in turns and training dolphins. We still use a nickname we gave one of the dolphins as an inside joke now. It also had so many little things to do. I remember trying to get all of the titles - which work exactly like Nook Mile titles I've just realised, haha - but that was such an arduous task that I never ended up managing that, with for example one of them being playing for 100+ hours, but another being something like having a million visitors in your aquarium which took way more than 100 hours to do. I loved trying for those though. And taking pictures of all kinds of sea creatures, making money by giving tours and looking for treasure in Valka Castle...

Ah, I went on a bit of a tangent there, but this post made me remember how much I loved this game and the memories I have of playing it!

Subnautica has a bit more of a combat and survival aspect, and is therefore not as relaxing as Endless Ocean to me. (For the people who haven't played Endless Ocean: in the first game you can't get attacked at all, and the only worry you have is your air tank, but that isn't hard to manage. In the second game there are some creatures that attack you, with a few being notorious, but mostly it's still a very relaxing game.)

I recommend ABZÛ as a similar relaxing sea exploration game. It's a more stylistic approach to a diving game. It's made by the people who made Journey if you know that, and while the game is a lot shorter and more like, well, a journey than Endless Ocean is, it definitely gave me a similar sense of wonder and beauty. It's been a long time since I played that as well though, and I don't remember it as clearly as I apparently remember Endless Ocean.
