Kalos was probably the generation that I was most interested in Pok?mon. It was the only gen where I somewhat knew the meta, and I have a lot of good memories from that time.

Bummmmmmmpppp

We have some new people and returning people to the forums. Looking for more people to vote. Johto and Sinnoh are currently tied. :D

My favorite generation of Pok?mon depends on the exact classification of generation.

In terms of regions, my favorite is a toss-up between Unova and Johto. I greatly enjoy traversing both of these regions and am fond of pretty much everything about them. The Pok?mon are great, the characters and stories are enjoyable enough, and the locations themselves are good. Upon consideration, nostalgia wins out for me because for as good as Unova is in all regards, Silver and Lance were great cool, the starters are some of my favorites, the gym leaders are pretty good, I love Ho-Oh and the legendary beasts, and apricorn balls were a fun mechanic. Oh, and the Pok?athlon Dome added in HeartGold and SoulSilver was a fun way to spend some time.

In terms of Pok?mon introduced in a generation, it kind of has to be the original 151 from Kanto for me. 2nd and 3rd place would probably be Unova and Johto, in that order.

In terms of overall enjoyability, I somewhat hesitantly feel that I have to give it to Generation 6. While Kalos is easy and disappointing with no Elite 4 level scaling or anything, it introduced trainer customization and a few of my personal favorite Pok?mon, like Gourgeist and Malamar. Meanwhile, while the Hoenn remakes didn't include trainer customization, they offered more challenge than was present in Kalos and an enjoyable way for me to traverse Hoenn since I had quit Pok?mon in the years spanning from after Crystal's release up to the release of HeartGold and SoulSilver due to peer pressure and only got back in because a friend told me about HGSS and it invoked nostalgia. The absolute biggest things in Generation 6's favor, though, are the changes made to breeding and EV training. The Destiny Knot being used to pass down IVs from parent was amazing, and it was nice to be able to pass down the Pok?ball of the mother to the offspring. Super Training, meanwhile, made EV training simple to keep track of and made it go by relatively quickly compared to hunting down specific Pok?mon to knock out in the wild. People say the EV training methods in Generation 7 aren't bad, but for me it was an enormous step backward to remove Super Training. That's a feature that ought to have been present in every game from then onward.

TL;DR:
Region - Johto narrowly beats Unova
Pok?mon - Kanto, then Unova, then Johto
Overall Games - Generation 6

Kanto or Hoenn

I started with Kanto and I really love the towns and Pokemon of Kanto, but I had a lot of fun connecting cables with friends in Hoenn. And decorating secret forts + chilling in the hot springs. I guess Hoenn.

BUMMMMMMMPPPP.

I’m eager to see what newer fans of the franchise think about this. :D

I'm not a new fan of the franchise but I'll answer nevertheless!

My favourite region/generation is 100% Hoenn, specifically the Emerald version Hoenn with that fighting area.

I really liked the landscape of Hoenn, lots of green and nature and the music was really catchy. I loved the secret bases you could create and decorate and I love the diving aspect of the games.

I loved sapphire but when I saw that Pok?mon moves little bit when called into battle and that the items had little pictures next to them, I NEEDED emerald as well. I played so much of that game and it was one of the only games where I actually completed the whole Pok?dex and I was so proud of it.

I've heard a lot of people say, that Hoenn has too much water, but I don't mind that. I think the water areas in that game have a lot to offer, for example with the diving, the old shipwreck, secret bases somewhere on the ocean, the tower of rayquaza, the puzzle behind the water floating city to unlock the Regis.

There was just so so much to do in that game and I am actually sad about some of the changes ORAS brought to the game, like the complete makeover of one of the cities, can't remember the name in English.

And I loved farming that reporter team for experience!

I’ll go with generation 5 and 6. My first game was Black, and I enjoyed it a lot, although I’m not sure if it was because all my friends played, and we would all battle and help each other and whatnot. X/Y and omega ruby/ alpha sapphire I also enjoyed a lot, especially the customization options with how your character looked and the different outfit options. It just gave another thing to do in the game :p As for later generations, I own moon (I’m pretty sure it’s moon oof) and tbh, I didn’t finish it because I felt like there was a lot going in and I had a hard time getting into it. With that being said, I would like to give it another try and finish it :) I haven’t played any games after that though :[

Btw sorry, I forgot what region is what <.>

Games-wise, definitely Johto. I love everything about G/S/C/HG/SS, so I voted 2nd Generation. If we were talking about the actual Pok?mon within each Gen we like the most though, I would have gone for Kanto.

I’ve got a soft spot for sinnoh, so it’s my top pick. I was so invested in those games and put many hours into training and trying to complete the Pok?dex. I would even store my Pok?mon in that Pok?mon Ranch game trying to get a mew.

Sinnoh introduced some of my absolute favorite Pok?mon. I restarted Platinum a while back and had a hard time putting together a team because there are so many well designed, cool Pok?mon that I like a lot.

The spin offs and HGSS during gen 4 were also very good.

My second favorite region would probably be Kanto, tho my second fav generation wise would be gen 3.

My favourite generation is 3. Loved Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald (and of course OR and AS when they released, but I didn't think the remakes had the same charm to me), and Fire Red/Leaf Green with the revisited Kanto region. Leaf Green was the very first Pokemon game I ever played, so it'll always be a special place to me.

Gen 5 and 6 are my favorites. I spent a lot of time with Black/White and X/Y, I like most of the Pokemon from these generations, the regions are quite nice and in general I had lots of fun to play the games. I also enjoyed Gen 4, which was the Gen where I started to play Pokemon often.

I'd say it's a tie between Hoenn and Sinnoh, but if forced to choose I'll go Sinnoh. So many fantastic Pokemon in it. Luxray, Empoleon, Garchomp, Weavile, and more.

I haven't played any of them, but I enjoyed what I saw from my partner playing Alola.

My first game was Sinnoh, which I enjoy alot in Platinum. But Jhoto has got to be my fav, Soul Silver and Heart Gold specifically! Having the pokemon walk around with you and getting to visit Kanto again, it's so cool. :3

Mine is Hoenn. I really like the Pok?mon and map layout. I also competed in the contests for ribbons which were fun. c: Sinnoh is a close second.
