What's a trope?
In storytelling, a trope is just that — a conceptual figure of speech, a storytelling shorthand for a concept that the audience will recognize and understand instantly.

I love the genderswapping, fish-out-of-water, and role switch tropes. It's very fun to see the characters' interactions.

I love the 'leave all your weapons... I said all of them' trope. I also love body-swapping tropes, small husbands with tall wives, characters who form a parent/child bond that aren't related, and 'grumpy and selfish character completely adores cheerful and loving character.'

Hmm I enjoy a lot of tropes in horror because they can be pretty ridiculous and/or classic: In apocalyptic movies where barriers or barricades never seem to work. Every time a character fumbles for their keys.. or when a character drops their glasses/weapon/whatever, you know something bad is going to happen.

Soft apocalypse is nice. A catastrophic event that people seem to just hide from and come out safe and fine.

i love when there's a "reality" and then it turns out that isnt reality it's a simulation and you come out of that simulation into "reality" and it just keeps going
