What did you think of this Nintendo Direct? Anything you are really looking forward too?

I thought the direct in general was really good. The game that caught my eye was Live Alive by SquareEnix. Since they have their other games on Steam, I hope to see this one on there in a year or two for the Valve system. The game sounds so interesting... multiple stories from different time periods.
I was surprised about the Mario Cart DLC and hearing more about the new Kirby game was nice.

I'm glad Metroid: Dread just got a new update. I'm not sure if I'll ever tackle on this one-hit "Dread Mode", but it's nice to see that they've also added a difficulty setting that's easier than Normal Mode. "Boss Rush" is definitely a feature I'm gonna spend a decent amount of time on once the second update arrives in two months. This is something Metroid should've had a long time ago.

the only things i cared about are switch sports (which i had hoped for at the last direct) and the MK8 DLC. switch sports looks good, but it lacks the charm of the wii version somehow. i think it's partly due to the new "miis", which while cute do make it feel/look like an entirely different series even if the "original" ones can be used. i also still can't tell if it's compatible with switch lites. the site(s) just say "only on the nintendo switch family", but that obviously doesn't help. i would think it is, since it isn't exactly hard to replace motion controls with a set of button prompts, but i wouldn't put it past them. i'll still be getting the game though, probably.

the MK8 DLC looks fun, and i will be getting it since it's cheap, but it doesn't exactly look remastered? it just looks ported lmao. like, all the tracks look super flat and empty compared to the actual MK8 ones. it feels like they just updated the models or whatever to look more HD but did nothing else with the courses which is kind of lame. i suppose this also means no MK9 (which i would've preferred) until 2024 at the earliest rip.

Pretty mixed on Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. I never go into these Directs with expectations, so I can't say I'm too disappointed, but a few other friends and I were hoping that the next announcement would have been for a mainline series game, whether it be a remake or remaster or an entirely new entry. Some people in my circles were outright disappointed, some are cool with it, some just hope that it's better than the previous Fire Emblem Warriors game. I never played the previous one because the Awakening & Fates pandering in the roster when they had 20+ years of games and hundreds of characters to choose from. Additionally, while I can enjoy playing a Warriors game, I'm not really that into them; on a scale from Terrible to Fantastic, I just see Warriors games as "okay." I can see maybe getting this game at some point, but I can also see myself not bothering. Time will tell.

I've never yet played an Advance Wars game, but I've been interested for some time. Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp seems sort of neat, especially since they mentioned you can make your own maps and play against other people, but on the flipside I could just buy the original games on the Wii U eShop for under $20 instead.

I got a copy of Mario Strikers a few years ago and enjoyed it well enough, so Mario Strikers: Battle League looks good. Don't feel like it's something I'll be rushing to buy, but maybe down the road at some point.

The Mario Kart 8 Booster Deluxe DLC is nice, I'm probably going to want to get that.

Looking forward to Triangle Strategy next month, but we've known that's been coming out for a long while now, so not much to say there.

Unfortunately, none of the games caught my interest this time. Not even the new Fire Emblem game. On the contrary, I’ll be quite disappointed if that’s the only FE game that they announce this year.

Oh well. It’s probably for the best, since I still need to save up for Pokemon: BDSP and Rune 5.

i liked the kirby game, mario kart 8 deluxe dlc, and the switch sports game. i don’t care about anything else. im kind of upset that they de-mii-ified switch sports, i don’t understand why ninetendo wants to get rid of miis now. they’re a classic and if it’s not broke don’t fix it. i was also kind of upset by the mario kart dlc announcement, i wanted a new game but they just gave us tracks that are going to periodically release in a span of 2 years but it’s ok.

i liked the mario strikers game too, it looks interesting but i don’t know if i’d buy it.

I saw a lot of things that looked interesting. The new Kirby game looks absolutely adorable and I'm personally interested in the Kingdom Hearts collection since I've never played any Kingdom Hearts games.

Switch Sports looks interesting but as someone who only has a Switch lite I definitely wouldn't be getting that for myself. MK8 getting a dlc is also exciting but I don't know that I personally enjoy the fact that they are releasing only a few at a time.

The new Kirby game looks pretty good! That was pretty much the only thing I was interested in. I’ll probably end up getting the Mario Kart dlc at some point as well.

What certainly caught my attention was the new Kirby game, which looks fantastic based on what I saw in the trailer. It's been awhile since I've played a Kirby game so it will be nice to play something new and exciting. I might get this game depending on what Pokémon has planned for the 27th. I am also looking forward to the Cuphead DLC and maybe the new FE game. Nothing else really caught my attention.

The only thing that caught my attention was the MK8D DLC. I was initially excited about what they had to offer, but something felt a little off when I saw the game footage. The quality of the tracks doesn't compare to the ones that were in the base game and it's surprising that Nintendo thought it was good enough. I have never touched Mario Kart Tour, so I'm not sure if these tracks were just straight up ported from that game. I know Mario games aren't known for their graphics but is it too much to ask for consistency in quality? And what about the jazzy remixes of soundtracks? Going from tracks like Toad Harbour to Choco Mountain will feel jarring. It's such a shame because paying for at least $31 Canadian isn't a bad deal considering 48 tracks will be added (albeit in waves).

The Kirby game looks great, I'll most likely end up getting that one. I'm also really looking forward to the Mario Kart 8 DX DLC, it's nice to see that it's finally getting some new tracks after all this time. A new Mario Kart game itself would've been great, but for me the DLC works just fine too! That being said, I did notice that the DLC MK8DX tracks showcased in the direct seemed to look more or less like direct rips from Mario Kart Tour, except slightly upscaled. Hopefully they at least add a bit more polish to these tracks to bring them closer in consistency with the rest of the MK8 tracks before release. I didn't really care too much about the rest of the games in the direct, though Advance Wars does look interesting.

I can’t believe no one on this thread has mentioned XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 3!!!! I’m so incredibly stoked for it. I’m still only halfway through Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so I’ll have to beat that one first. I have plenty of time, however, seeing as XC3 doesn’t release until September. :D

I'm rather sad I missed this Direct. There were quite a few things that caught my eye. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 not being the least of it.

I never played the original Klonoa games, so I'm still contemplating whether or not I should consider picking this compilation up.

Things I'm excited for:
• Mario Strikers! (Loved that game on the Gamecube)
• The 48 Mariokart courses
• Trying out that disney/pixar race game since its free after all
• Kirby and the forgotten land looks beautiful!

Mario Strikers was the only game which caught my eye. I don’t think I’ll be getting it because I don’t even own a Switch anymore, but it does look interesting. I like sports games! For those wondering, I did see MLB The Show. I’m terrible at baseball video games on consoles. I prefer to watch it rather than play it. I do play the MLB tap baseball on my phone, though. It passes time.

The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC was definitely my favorite announcement. The fact they're bringing Tour maps to the Switch is a good sign that Nintendo may be open to bringing more Pocket Camp stuff to DLC in the future for New Horizons. It too bad the maps are going to be spread out because I really want to play them all. The new Mario Strikers game also looks fun! I didn't really grow up playing that game or the Wii version so it'll be nice to play a modern take of it. The new Kirby game does look fun, but to be honest I've just never been a huge Kirby fan aside from Kirby Air Ride which is one of my favorite Gamecube games. I don't like games that are too easy. They need to have a challenge. This one I might get though. Nintendo Switch Sports seems like it will be a lot of fun. This is probably my nostalgia talking, but I'd really rather they just used the Miis for it and not the Ninjala looking characters. I hope there's an option for just Miis in the background but I doubt it. Still, looks like a good time and you can still play as your Miis so I guess that's the most important thing.

negativity inbound.

thinking more about switch sports, and i'm not as hyped about it as i originally was. it looks cool in theory, but i feel like it's definitely coasting on the popularity of wii sports and wii sports resort. (they also should've just called it mii sports since, y'know, it rhymes? nintendo switch sports is dumb lmao.) they largely seemed to have ditched the miis, which isn't surprising since they did that with the introduction of this console family for some reason. yes, you can play as a mii yourself, but that doesn't matter too much if all the backgrounders and NPCs can only be the new character designs which aren't bad per se but do look like they belong in a different game. there seems to be less sports, with most of the good ones taken out (rip frisbee, archery, basketball, wakeboarding and island flyover, which i loved), and they've ditched the iconic wuhu island setting too. i don't mind golf being released later, personally, but it also doesn't make a lot of sense. just finish the game and release it in full? why wait months to add seemingly only one sport? just complete the game and release it then. i really hate this recurring trend of them releasing games and then the rest of the content later down the line whether for free or otherwise. (they're also basically doing it with MK8 for no real reason.) it wasn't fun with NH either, and i don't know why it's a model they think is good. the fact that the online playtest or w/e isn't compatible with switch lites also doesn't give me a lot of hope for this game being available on there atm, but we'll see. if it is, i'll still likely get it, but man, it definitely feels like a bit of a step down from its classic predecessor.

Nothing really knocked my socks off with this one, which is probably for the best since I'm trying to catch up on a serious gaming backlog at the moment, eheh. 😅 I might look into some of the RPG titles later though—I know a lot of people were really excited about Live A Live getting a Western release, so I'll probably snoop around and try and figure out if it's something I'd enjoy.

There wasn't anything that really caught my eye. I had hoped for some word that Style Savvy will finally be brought to the Switch, but I didn't expect much from this direct.
