I didn't see your question until now, so sorry for the late response.
To "catalog" or aka "touch trade" means to hold items and drop them, thereby registering the items in your catalog. You don't actually keep the item, but when you get back to your home island, you can order the items for yourself in the kiosk or Nook Phone app catalog using bells.
Cataloging is useful for several reasons:

To "catalog" or aka "touch trade" means to hold items and drop them, thereby registering the items in your catalog. You don't actually keep the item, but when you get back to your home island, you can order the items for yourself in the kiosk or Nook Phone app catalog using bells.
Cataloging is useful for several reasons:
- you might not have the storage space or inventory space for all the items you want
- the original owner gets to keep the items
- catalog events give you access to items you would not find easily alone, because different islands only have specific versions of each furniture
- anything crafted by a DIY
- Saharah's walls and flooring
- Seasonal special items that show up only in the shopping app

Hello friends! There's good news and bad news.
First the bad news: several items were taken from the island, and I've had to remove sets out of circulation as a result. I was actually able to replenish a few sets overnight, but there are not enough order slots to fill all the gaps. I will be retiring the island soon, as it's getting less fun to manage, and I miss traveling to other islands. I've added a list of missing items that are not on backorder, in case anyone wants to help.
The good news is that I have some new items for catalog today: refrigerators, handy water coolers, upright pianos, whirlpool baths, sand castles, and I forgot to mention the adorable flamingo couples I set out yesterday. YAY!

That’s awful, I’m so sorry that happened! I have the cute red lamp on hand, and the caramel mocha baby bear that I could drop off today if you need them. I have the red cute diy table, red diner sofa, and the rest(I think) of the baby bears in my catalogue. I could order them and drop them off tomorrow.
I would also like to stop by to catalogue the sand castles and whirlpool baths when there is an opening.

Hello I would like to come and catalog please. I visited before but it crashed and it was pretty late at night so I went to bed. I’m really keen on cataloging the three surf boards and any outdoor benches.
If it is okay can I bring my daughter? She is eight and playing the game, she got three star for her island today. She is very polite and respectful and I will accompany her. She won’t take items; she knows how it works.
