First house payment?

Does nook force you to use the miles you earned to upgrade from a tent? I was grinding away at fishing to spend my bells on my mortgage, not the miles ;-; but there was no option to pay with bells. On the bright side, I have about 100k in bells from 3 hours of game play!

Nope, unfortunately. The first payment is in miles only.
