Hey, I love bandwagons too.
I'll be doing things a bit differently, to keep myself different from everyone else as usual, I'll be keeping track of what bands I have in the top spots, and keep them down in the second post, this way we can see how my musical taste changes over the weeks. (I have a feeling modest mouse will stay on top for awhile. >.>)
I will also post lyrics to the first song(to be different from everyone else again. : D), assuming it's appropriate.
Taking our Number 1 Spot this week is (of course) Modest Mouse, with "So Much Beauty in Dirt"
A song with a running time of 1:24 wouldn't usually take the top spot now would it? Well, I don't know why, but I love this song... It has "me" written all over it. I'll post the lyrics just for fun.
Out of breath and out of cash
find yourself watching M.A.S.H.
every night
on the couch
Woman says let's take a drive down south
roll down the windows and open our mouths
taste where we are and play the music loud
stop the car
and lay on the grass
the planets spin and we watch space pass
walk a direction
see where we get
I never knew nothin' so there's nothin' to forget
get real drunk
and ride our bikes
there's so much beauty it could make you cry
there's so much beauty it could make you cry
the rich get money but never what they want
find ourselves a new place to haunt
climb up the fire escape do it 'til the ground looks far away
go night swimming
leave our clothes on the ground
when we get busted we just stand there proud
It's the truth we all been wrong make it up and let's move on
Playing cards we all get to act sly
there's so much beauty it could make you cry
there's so much beauty it could make you cry
there's so much beauty it could make you cry
I dunno what else there is to say... but this song rules.
Second this week is "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins
Great song... Great band... too bad they're broken up. This song rules, it's a softer song, with light lyrics compared to most songs The Smashing Pumpkins do. I've always loved this song, but never knew the name of it until recently, so it's way awesome that I finally got the song itself.
Third this week is "Lateralus" by Tool
Tool obviously spent a lot of time on this album. It has Fibonacci Sequences throughout the entire song from the lyrics to the time they start playing, it's insane. You can read the wikipedia article here if you like. It's quite interesting if you ask me. As for the song itself, I love it. Tool is an amazing band, I can't believe some of the stuff they can play, it's insanely difficult some of the things they do.
Fourth this week is "Street Spirit(Fade Out)" by Radiohead
I dunno about this song, except one thing... I love it. They sound a lot like Muse in this song, except their lead singer doesn't sound like he's going to cough up a lung at any moment. Very decent song. : D
Fifth and Finally this week is "Zee Deveel" by Incubus
A song I usually looked over for some reason until one day I decided to listen to it, and heard the lyrics. It's a great song. Crazy idea behind it, but nonetheless a good song.
So yeah, until next time... go listen to these. >.>
