Flimsy Axe Trouble??? PLEASE HELP

I am on my second day. My house is built and I’ve made a lot of progress on my island. Tom Nook won’t give me the axe recipe? I have several bugs and fish in my inventory and I’ve talked to him several times but nothing?? please help!!

Just continue talking to him. He'll give it to you.

There is no option to give him creatures at all for some reason...?

When I talk to him, the only options I bet are

He replies that I should do some Nook Shopping

I’ve talked to him at least 30 times and these don’t change. what am i doing wrong?

I’m not sure, I believe I have. I’ve paid off my tent and have my first home. He just tells me that I don’t really have anything else I need to do and suggests spending bells and miles at his catalogue thing which I have done?

keep clicking what should i do? and he'll eventually suggest you start giving him creatures.

I believe that Timmy (or Tommy, I get them mixed up) also sells the flimsy axe recipie if you are tired of waiting.

If you are the island representative (first player) then you'll get it automatically from Nook as the others have described. If not you'll have to buy it from Timm/Tommy.

Nothing really seems to be working so I’m just gonna get the other user on my switch to give it a try. He was the first to play (I joined the island second) So maybe that has something to do with it? If so that’s really lame.

Yes, that's the problem. Your first player will get it from Nook, but the others have to buy the recipe from Timmy/Tommy.
