I want to eventually complete all of the Nook Miles goals. But some of them feel so tedious - especially the final ones in the series of just catching a lot of fish/bugs/sea creatures. I already completed my museum. Other than collecting specific bugs/fish to have Flick/CJ make models, I don't need to catch them anymore. I also have all of Pascal's DIYs, so it's not needed to even try to look for scallops. I also at the moment (we'll see if the update/HHP makes me spend a lot of money) have way more money than I need. Catching them to sell doesn't help me.

How do you grind out these goals and stay motivated? Do you just catch a few at a time here and there? Did you make up some way to make catching them more fun?

Honestly, I just like seeing everything filled in and it gives me dopamine the closer I get to it. Having goals is always nice, and it keeps me motivated even if I end up not caring as much later down the road, lol.

I like watching the number of total miles go up and I want to see every stamp filled on my board, so completionism helps. But some like 100 fish in a row or the New Years Eve celebration stamp are gonna be a long time coming, and that’s okay too!

For the catching bugs and fish ones I worked on them the same time as the "craft tools" goal. I basically crafted a set number of flimsy tools and kept fishing/bugging till all of them broke every day. Then I dump them in the drop off box to clear inventory, it's not for the bells.
To stay motivated, I just do small quantities. But some days I'd be "feeling it" and I get like 200 done.

I love fishing, bug catching, and diving in this game, so I guess that’s one of my reasons on how I can keep doing it for a long time. Like @shellbell said, I too work on the crafting tools while doing fishing and bug catching. I guess sometimes you just got to push yourself to get it done. Believe me, once you get it done, you’ll have a big satisfaction in the end and feel so accomplished. ^-^

i didn't need to be motivated, they all just happened. i'm only missing 2-3, and i only need to craft one more snowboy for one of them. k.k. is the only one that'll give me hassle because my clock is set so far back (to accomodate for my god awful sleep schedule) that he doesn't play until about 5AM real world time lmao. the only one i had to put conscious thought into completing was the crafting tools/furniture one, and my solution was to incorporate it into my daily routine. every time i went to the nooklings to sell the junk from my rounds, i would leave out all crafting materials. then i would go outside to my crafting bench, open the "able to craft" tab and craft as much as i could of the easiest item. then i would use the sticks to make about 10-15 flimsy fishing rods and sell it all. took a couple of weeks, and i hit the tool achievement first, but it was doable.

OK, thanks everyone. I've also gotten all of the golden tools except the axe, and so was thinking how I also need to grind out breaking axes just to get that. Maybe I need to just do it more here and there, and just do a lot on days I feel really motivated.

Mass produce (or buy) flimsy axes, store whatever you can't carry in your storage and put a tree directly in front of your house (relocate or otherwise) so you can just smack that tree over and over just as you exit your house and you have fast access to your storage as well since your house is basically right behind you.

My biggest hurdle right now is the 'craft 3,000 tools'. The only way I've been able to do that is by playing another game at the same time, and just spamming the B button until I can pick up all the sticks, then repeat until my inventory is full.

I feel like they overestimated a lot of the numbers in this game.

I do it in waves, some days i focus just on catching the bugs/fish but thats pretty rare. What i most like to do is just casually catch stuff i see as i go about my town.
My only real motivation of completing ac is being able to put it down and not be so glued to it but i just love ac lol

i also do it in bits and pieces - i might notice one is getting close to a stamp so I’ll grind it out, other days I’ll just be playing a lot anyway and it happens naturally. some like unlocking the golden axe - for me at least - are just about taking the time to sit down and getting it out the way. but I’ve accepted that a lot of them are the kind of thing that’ll just happen along the way and they’ll take a while, so for now I’m just focusing more on my island, especially since it’s still in its early stages of development

I've been doing 50 bugs/fish/ocean critters a day in order to knock out the ones I need to get a lot of them, while using flimsy tools so they break faster and I can craft new ones. I'm trying to stay motivated by just the reward of the miles-- I definitely want them for the update. A lot of the ones in the first half compliment each other as in working on any of them will also help with others.

The first few months after the game came out, I used to go on a lot of Mystery Island Tours just to get resources and furniture from trees and check for DIY bottles. I used the materials to craft furniture and tools to earn bells and consequently completed those Nook Mile achievements pretty quickly. You also end up breaking a lot of tools cutting down trees and hitting rocks on the Mystery Islands.

The last diving one, for 2500 sea creatures, took me a long time, but once I hit around 1500/2500, I started making a conscious effort to finish it. I would just clear my pocket storage on the beach and go diving for at least 3 or 4 pocketfuls of sea creatures a day until I finished it. It wasn't too bad once I did that.

I only have two Nook Mile achievements left, the Smile Island one (153/300 tasks completed) and the KK Slider one (76/100 concerts attended). Those will probably take forever because I don't time travel and my villagers don't often ask for favors. But I hope to finish them eventually. Like you, I have tons of bells and have all but 1 bug model and 2 fish models so don't really need to sell stuff anymore.

I earned all of the time-consuming, tedious stamps by playing while pacing my room for exercise. So I didn't get bored, because it was something to do while I was exercising, rather than something I was doing for its own sake. It would probably be even more effective if you have a treadmill. But I can vouch for just pacing. Having a pedometer makes it even better.

Love this idea since it's currently too hot to exercise outside where I live , but oh my gosh I would either fall flat on my face or just not be able to walk and play at the same time xD

@pinkfawn That's the nice thing about Animal Crossing, you don't have to do any precise, split-second inputs to play it. If you need to look up for a second to make sure you're not about to walk into a wall, nothing bad happens in the game. And fishing in particular is easier, at least for me, when I'm not looking at the screen at all while waiting for the fish to bite. I just listen for the sound of it. And doing lots of crafting also doesn't require you to look at the screen that much.

i feel your pain. i’ve only got 8 nook mile achievements left to complete, and it definitely feels tedious and like its taking forever at times — especially the bug catching, deep-sea creature catching, mail and selling turnips for a profit ones.

however, you absolutely don’t have to try and complete everything all at once. for me, trying to grind completions would suck all the fun out of it, so i only work on a little bit each day. the amount of progress i make varies day by day, but that’s okay — progress is still progress imo. i’m having fun with working towards completing everything at my own pace, and i know that i’ll be proud of myself and all my hard work once i’m done, and that’s all the motivation i need. it’s gonna take me a long time to complete everything, but that gives me a reason to play and something to do every day, so i don’t mind. :’)

it’s a long process that feels fruitless at times, but i think the sense of accomplishment is worth it, and you can work on it at your own pace; there’s no rush at all, and even if you only do a little bit every day, it’ll all add up over time. good luck! 💚
