For me, it wasn’t a comfortable game. The DIY projects, the focus on dolling up your island. The nook tickets. It’s just so stressful that your main goal is to have a pretty island instead of socializing like in previous games. The socializing aspect was always my favorite part and it sucks that it’s just gone.

I love Animal Crossing as a whole, but the game has gotten pretty stale. I pick up the game every once in a while, but it’s not nearly as much as I used to. I think little things like repetitive dialogue and nothing new being added can make the game boring. If the villagers had just a little more to say and if there were more furniture sets, I think that’d help bring some attention back to the game. New Horizons was a great game, but I think the crafting and terraforming aspect makes it seem too much like Minecraft, and not enough like the game we grew to love.

I feel like you just took my exact thoughts and put them into words. I didn’t know why the whole terraforming thing and diy stuff didn’t seem like animal crossing to me until you said “its like Minecraft” which is 100% true.

I didn't end up playing a lot of New Horizons. I found the crafting aspect to be more annoying than fun (especially having to craft bait for fishing) and I didn't find the craftable items worth the removal of the furniture sets that I loved from New Leaf. I also wasn't feeling the music and the smaller house sizes. I feel like I actually would have enjoyed terraforming, but I never made it that far.
