These are all great ideas. I love the discussion board idea and especially the contests. Since I'm still "kinda new" please tell me: what have people given as rewards for winning contests? Here are some contest ideas I came up with you may or may not have had before:

Short-story contest
stop-motion video contest
(genera here) video contest
Drawing contest (hand drawn, no computer help)
Graphic contest (computers allowed)
Team contests (usually on video games, can be live streamed for those who want to watch but can't participate)
Challenge contests (Someone proposes a challenge, participants do that challenge. Nothing gross or illegal though!)

Perhaps a ventrillo or a team speak like guilds use in mmo's? Though this would have to be monitored carefully and payed for, people can use this to speak like they would if they were playing a game together.

I'll post more contest ideas if I can think of them hehe

Those are really cool ideas. I'd be happy to participate in any of them.

Josh.'s contest was going to have real life prizes, but I don't think those ever came into fruition. If the shop was more developed, then we could do prizes like "Custom Username Color" for a month or something like that.

The only thing I'm worried about is the Mature Discussion part. The problem is some things aren't really for the kids, but there's no place to really have those discussions. Lest I made a group, but I'd need to know other people would be joining in as well. However, as far as I know, they don't have their own boards like they used to. Discussions like that tend to get a little... yea.

You could make a private board that everyone needs to be granted permission to access (everyone would be initially granted permission). Just make it clear that it would be heavily moderated - not in terms of ideas, but in terms of showing people respect. If someone breaks the one simple rule they would lose access to the board.

If a mature discussion group was ever going to happen, it's not going to just be made by someone that isn't staff. Plus a group is going to be harder to moderate than a private board as you've just got the owner, rather than all of the members of staff.

I guess the best thing to do would just be to have it as an open forum and if someone starts acting up or can't handle it, they should be barred from it.

Maybe it should be time to dust off my disc(Wii to for that matter). I do miss this Forum, though. I wasn't particularly active myself. >.<.

Then again it hasn't been easy for me lately to get back into old habits.
